Giant Opportunity

Biteymax22 : 9/26/2024 9:16 am
I mentioned this at the end of my "Next Day Non-Emotional Thoughts" thread, but the team should be viewing this game differently than it has in recent years.

Don't look at it as a division rivalry

Don't look at it as another prime time game

Don't think about it as a save the coaching staff, or GM, or shut the media up type of game

Look at this game as an opportunity. Our line blocks, we have a star receiver, if the defense plays aggressively they can hassle the QB. The Giants have an opportunity tonight to really come out and change the narrative of this team and prove they're on their way to becoming respectable again.

Hopefully Metlife is full of Giants jerseys, the fans are fired up and help bring some life to this team. Winning this game can mean a lot to this franchise, we're in a position to do it, this is a great opportunity!
Agree with you, Bitey

This is likely either a 'change the narrative' game, or 'same old giants game.'

This is a wounded Dallas team with Superbowl or bust written on them this year, that can be 1-3 on Friday morning. The Giants can't get their doors blown off as they have done in the past in this type of setting and argue they are making anything more than incremental progress.
Biggest regular season game of Daboll’s stint here IMO
Dave in PA : 9/26/2024 9:23 am : link
They can either take a little bit of momentum and kick it into gear or they can stall out as nearly everyone expects and slink back to the basement. I think it’s about damn time they kick the basement door off it’s hinges and rise to the occasion
I just cannot believe in this team until I see it consistently

Dallas wins tonight, and quite frankly I don't think it'll be close.

I pray that I am wrong.
100% agree

If not now, when?
Just Win the Damn Game!

as relevant today as when Phil Simms said it to Dave Brown 30 years ago.
Another game against Dak . . .

I was at the 1st, week 1 2016 with McAdoo (his 1st game too as HC) . . . Dallas had a big pre-game thing for the 15th anniversary of 9-11 (games was played on 9/11/16).

Just remember all the Dak Dallas #4 jerseys in attendance, I thought: Jeez, he's a 4th round pick that had a decent pre-season, let's see how he does against some actual starters before we drop the $$$ on a jersey.

NY won 20-19, I was there in 2017 & 2018 also (Dallas won both). Dak is 12-2 and just got his 3rd contract - he's better than average, and probably a good enough QB to win a title . . .

I think NY has a great chance here: Dallas is reeling a bit, and the Thursday night factor is definitely a wildcard.
I actually think differently
Giantsfan79 : 9/26/2024 9:54 am : link
if the Giants beat Dallas it's because they preverbally punched Dallas harder than Dallas hit back. Getting them as fired up as possible is key esp on a short week. Dallas has owned us and they owned us last year and I hope BD has talked to the team about how that's what Dallas is expecting to do again on Thursday and how will the players respond to that.

This is an exorcise the demon on the path to becoming a contender type of game, and Dallas is that demon tonight.
Dallas is 12-2 . . .

against NY
The Giants are essentially playing with house money tonighr
Burst Bubble 25 : 9/26/2024 11:02 am : link
which should go with well with their fuck it narrative.

Giants fans (and media) have hit full capitulation here, none of us actually believe we can win this game, even though they are ripe for the picking here.....makes me think we actually do winm. I'm full expecting to lose in a brutal fashion, Aubrey kicking some 70 yard FG for the win after Nabers scores a TD with less than a minute type deal lol.
This is what I said opening day last season too
PatersonPlank : 9/26/2024 11:05 am : link
and we know what happened then.

I will be watching with a blanket covering my eyes, like watching a horror movie. I will believe we can beat them when the 4th qtr is over.
they managed to
46and2Blue : 9/26/2024 11:05 am : link
inject some life and excitement into the season for fans. I think they come back down to earth tonight against a rival that just knows how to beat them and Daniel Jones. That doesn't mean they can't play well. Honestly I would just like for it not to be a shit show for change, that's where my bar is with this team.
At some point
Mike in Long Beach : 9/26/2024 11:05 am : link
They need to win a game like this.

This is a good post. I don't know if they are capable of being a good football team, but they do have the pieces to be one, and they have them in the right places.

Let's go.
This is a pivotal game
gary_from_chester : 9/26/2024 11:12 am : link
I believe the season will be shaped by the outcome of this game. Win, and this very young, developing team can have a nice run - maybe exceeding the upper bounds of expectations and hitting 10 wins. Lose, and lose in another blowout - this could spiral downward very badly into another lost season; done early and death watch for Daboll and Jones.

I’m hyped up for the game…need a fast, clean start. Set the tone early. We’ve got some young talent, need the coaches to have a good plan and need DJ to play a clean game. We’re all tired of the losing, let’s go!

+1
Agree with you Bitey but it seems every time they've been in
Dinger : 9/26/2024 11:42 am : link
a similar situation over the last ten years they've let me/us down. I have some hope seeing how the offense is coming along and the defense finally showed up last game, but Dak, CeeDee and Parsons have our number.

Spot on.

Dak 12-2 vs Giants and one of the two was by 1 point. 0-7 the last bunch of Thursday nights. A 10 year history of coming up small and letting us down. The history is overwhelming. The Vegas line is daring people to bet Giants which is never a good sign.

Objective analysis suggests that there are lots of reasons for hope. I actually thin we SHOULD win this game. It just hasn't happened. Dallas is Lucy and we are Charlie Brown.

I don't think a lot of fans are appreciating just how big

of a difference the improvement in the OL is making. The Giants went from a historically inept OL to dare I say one that is playing well. On the other side of the LOS, Cowboys are going to have to help the rookie center with Dex and if Olujari can show like he did last week they can have a poor man's 2007 rush package which can than change the entire narrative on the Cowboys taking them from the bullies to the bullies and with the way they looked on Sunday it seems like the wheels are primed to fall off if things get tough for them.

Banks has to keep Lamb in check to one degree or the other. He still makes some frustrating mistakes but he has shown well against Jefferson, McLaurin and Cooper for the most part. The rest of the Cowboy skill players have talent but can be contained.

The Giants need to seize this opportunity to set the course for the rest of the season. If they lay an egg against a very vulnerable Dallas team at home on a short week, all hell will break loose and rightfully so. If they can play well and win there will be some deserved optimism. I'm usually never nervous before a game but I find myself both excited and nervous before this one and for good reason as if they lay an egg my last shreds of confidence in Daboll will be gone
I expect a loss
giantstock : 9/26/2024 7:22 pm : link
The Giants are not a good football team overall. Their secondary is hurt vs a passing only team. Dallas wins unfotunately. Probably close game.
