One of the biggest instant successes in the league who's career was derailed by injuries. Would have been fun to see what his career would have looked like if he had stayed healthy.
we’re so much damn fun. Great defense and paint production, just don’t have the big outside scorer. Really wish they got to the finals one of those years, I think they could have been the Mavs in 2011.
Morant can jump higher, Westbrook had a certain level of raw aggression we've never seen from a PG, and there have been some other great athletes at the PG position. But Young D-Rose is probably the most dynamic overall athlete from the PG position I've seen.
It's hard to put into perspective how quick his ascension was but I'll try.
The NBA is trying their very hardest to make "Anthony Edwards" the next big thing. They're pushing him hard as one of the next greats. During the Olympics they kept showing him sitting next to the Old Guard of Bron/Curry/KD and talking about how it was a passing of the torch.
He finished 7th in the MVP at age 22 this past year.
Derrick Rose won MVP at age 22 and was for a brief moment in time the hottest athlete in America. That "Rose 1" jersey was everywhere and remains popular as hell.
Just sad we never got to see what a healthy 27 year old Rose would've looked like. Regardless, he'll go down as a memorable player. I think Penny Hardaway is probably the closest comp to him.
1)he entered league at the right time. his style of attacking the rim and athleticism was good during the lull between lakers/spurs post jordan style iso basketball and the brand played today.
2)his lack of a jump shot and three ball rendered him much less valuable a few years into his career. his injuries obviously hurt.
3)he regained some form late and extended his career. lot longer than i would have thought six-eight years ago when i thought he was washed. good for him! hope he’s healthy in his post hoops life.
Rough career but is definitely well respected in the league.

Penny would have been an all time great if his body hadn't betrayed him.
