QB.

He can win you a game, but he can’t make the game changing play? Who can defend this anymore? It wasn’t a bad game. But we needed a QB back there who could make all the throws. DJ makes the good ones underneath. That’s it. Can’t keep him next year. Doesn’t run like he used to. GM and HC would just be waiting to get fired if they rolled with him next season.

Team has building pieces though. Fingers crossed.

His deep throws just aren’t there

This is a classic game where if you look at completion % and yards you would think the QB is solid. In the NFL you have to make teams pay with the deep ball occasionally. If a team doesn’t respect that a QB can be accurate downfield you will see what we are seeing today. Lots of defenders in the short to intermediate range clogging up throwing lanes because they know you can’t beat them deep. That obviously affects the running game as well with more defenders in close.

I had a similar thought during the game.

He’s a legit NFL quarterback but has too many limitations to be a good starter. He’ll be a good backup and spot starter. Miami could use him right now.

When you don't have to move people into the box to stop the run everyone can drops and makes deep throws harder.
Plus how many long 3rd downs did we have?

In the 60+ games he's started, this was probably between the 10th and 15th best of them.
