Hyatt

Breeze_94 : 9/27/2024 12:22 am
0 catches in 4 games. This offense has a lid on it. Safeties are cheating over towards Nabers. Need to get Hyatt out there, and at the very least have a threat of a deep ball. (Whether DJ can hit it is another story).

Also, I like Wan’Dale, but on 3rd and long, it seems almost pointless to have him out there. He is ineffective when operating more than 5 yards from the LOS. Why not go Slayton and Hyatt on the outside, and move Nabers inside, or Nabers and Slayton outside with Hyatt in the slot (where he played in college). I think I’d even rather have Hodgins out there on 3rd and long…
At this point they might as well dust off Hodgins.

Jones at least looks his way.
It's really interesting

how this guy is not getting involved?! Very strange how they don't want to use him as a deep threat? Something is not right with the Giants HC & GM.
Slayton

Didn't Daboll do this to Slayton two years ago (or was it just last year)? Slayton couldn't find the field on a team devoid of WR talent. What were the circumstances around that? Could it be similar with Hyatt?
Hyatt is a deep threat

Jones can’t throw deep.

Pretty simple.
Last week, on John and Eric's podcast

Connor Hughes basically said that Hyatt still hasn't developed as a route runner.

Assuming that's true, then it make sense why he's not out there. I don't care how fast he is - if teams have it figured that he's only good for one thing, then he's simply a non-factor to the offense. Even a decoy has to be a threat to do something you're not expecting.
In order to develope you have to play

But Daboll an Schoen need to win now there in lies the problem.

Same regarding playing Neal at right guard
Hyatt was playing pretty good late last season

Has no idea where a 1st down marker is and can't catch. Another wasted pick. You can get guys like him inthe fifth round.

Not sure Hyatt is good or not but man this team is sad

Definitely. It was painful last night watching Jones throw up lame ducks on any deep pass. He used to have some arm strength, but it seems to have left the building!
He's another third round bust.

But if Nabers can't go next week, he'll get a chance.

Bust? Or bad drafting to trade up for a guy you cant seem to use properly.

It was discussed that Hyatt is not a polished route runner. Strength is his speed and he's a deep threat. But he can't be a one trick pony either. That being said, he deserves some more playing time, and needs to be used more than one way (vertical threat) Slayton has been dropping critical passes ever since he got here.

rap on him coming out of college was that he was a "one trick pony," a straight line speed guy who didn't run a full route tree at Tennessee, which runs a very simple offense. He also has a spindly frame that will make it difficult for him to get off the LOS. In college, he got a ton of free releases. That won't happen in the NFL.

All of this is likely why despite his blazing speed, he was still available in the third round. Those problems, especially his inability to run a full route tree, have yet to be solved, and are more of a reason why he can't get on the field than Jones' inability to throw deep. Hyatt can't even beat out Slayton, who the Giants have been trying to get rid of for several years, and who played with a bad thumb last night. And yet Schoen used third and fourth round draft picks to get him. Hyatt is beginning to look like an updated version of Brian Alford.

Giants brass knew who he was. We have all seen the video of Hyatt at the combine calling out the Dallas coach. So, the GM traded up to get a guy with flaws they cant work with or cant get him the ball? Both seem like crappy team management.
Too much on Hyatt
RetroJint : 9/27/2024 10:43 am : link
Fixation . Whatever . I remember when they drafted him I preferred Charlie Jones from Purdue because he also could return punts . Well neither has done much . Hyatt caught the sideline squeeze pass last year from both DeVito & Taylor, who excel on that throw. Jones apparently does not . However as noted above that is one-trick pony stuff . Hyatt doesn’t present over the shirt middle. He never gets behind the coverage on the deep middle . He’s just a really mediocre football player right now .

Do you think if both Hyatt and Nabers were out there together the likely hood of Hyatt getting 1x1 and separation enough to move chains or allowing Nabers single coverage. We have horses but no stable manager!!!
Doesn't impress me at all
