4th and Goal from the 3.

SoZKillA : 9/27/2024 6:14 am
Why are they kicking the FG? Especially after the 2 plays before that a, a run and a swing to Wan’Dale basically was setting up for a 4th down try.

This has been an issue with Daboll since 2022, he has no feel for the games and situations. You have ah elite WR, an OL playing really well in passing pro, and a secondary who besides Diggs are JAGs.

2:23 2nd qtr. NYG - 7 WAS - 3
4TH AND 9
WAS35
D.Jones pass short middle complete to WAS 24. Catch made by R.James at WAS 24. Gain of 11 yards. Tackled by B.McCain; K.Fuller at WAS 24

^ that was 2022 in Washington with a shit OL and Richie James as your #1 WR, you go for it then but not after a good drive to actually score a TD, and get the momentum at home? That’s awful.

This guy coaches not to long, rather than trying to win.

Not to lose* not long.
Nothing is ever Daboll’s fault
JT039 : 9/27/2024 6:15 am : link
Despite probably being the worst head coach in the NFL right now.

I agree
Matt M. : 9/27/2024 6:30 am : link
And, it wasn't just that play. Multiple drives were almost entirely the passing game to get downfield and sustain drives. Then we run on 2nd and long and throw a short pass on 3rd. It drove me nuts all night.
And I love the excuse…
JT039 : 9/27/2024 6:33 am : link
Daboll doesn’t trust jones…

Well he trusted to throw them all the way down field for 5 scores yet when it came to the red zone - we don’t trust him to throw it? lol.

At one point - jones had 22 completions to 3 incompletions. One being a throw away.

EXACVTLY. And, if it is true then he shouldn't be the fucking QB.

Two things are true.

He doesn’t trust Jones.

If he doesn’t trust Jones and chooses to keep running him out there, he shouldn’t be the coach any longer.

The other 51 guys on the team deserve better coaching and better QB play

Daboll is making his own bed.

If jones threw 2-3 INTs a game and missed WRs all game - then Daboll can at least say - hey at least he tried to run the offense he wanted.

Coaching scared, which Daboll has done for awhile now, is just a cop out.

Jones and Daboll both are big problems. And I’ll be ok if Jones was benched this week and Daboll was fired.
Andrew Thomas and Dexter Lawrence deserve better
ajr2456 : 9/27/2024 7:17 am : link
But it’s what’s best for Daniel Jones in this franchises eyes.

The problem is, the guys behind him are probably worse. Not bringing in QB competition was and will also be malpractice.

I’d rather watch Jameis run this offense. He may have throw two of those deep balls for picks, but he would have completed at least one for a TD
and what about the 3 plays before 4th and goal from the 3?
jeffusedtobeonwebtv : 9/27/2024 7:50 am : link
None of them seemed designed to get into the endzone.
The handoff up the middle on 2nd and G from the 10
mittenedman : 9/27/2024 7:55 am : link
was such a bad play call. He’s lost me too.

You have to have red zone plays that are designed to score. They practice that constantly.

I would take a Jameis Winston 3TD/4INT game now just because it would be entertaining. This team loses and loses in the most boring was possible.

But the Giants can only bring in guys who are career backups, or will at least stand in front of the media and declare their status as backup only so that Daniel is not upset.

The team is here to make sure Daniel feels loved and valued.
How about throwing the ball
jeff57 : 9/27/2024 8:29 am : link
Into the end zone? One time maybe?

I was just going to say this? In said it to my buddy last night. Wants to throw and YAC into the end zone too much.
Does Jones not have the ability to check out of plays at LOS?
HardTruth : 9/27/2024 9:05 am : link
He is in Y6 and his 3rd in this offense

Its called an audible. I learned about by watching TNF last week with the Jets.

Asking for a friend.

I actually saw Jones make a pump fake last night. Hadn’t seen that in years. Come one, you’re being too mean.

The screen to WanDale was a pretty egregious call, but other than that, were plays not designed to be thrown into the end zone, or did his QB refuse to do it? This has been Jones’s bugaboo his entire career, he can’t throw TD passes with any regularity. We have 6 years of evidence, Occam would suggest that maybe, just maybe, Daboll isn’t the problem.
When he first started coaching here
JOrthman : 9/27/2024 9:09 am : link
He was bold and willing to take chances. He's started coaching scared and not to lose. At some point during the end, he had to know he couldn't trade FG's with Dallas and win, especially after they had the TD.
I will say this, it's impossible to know what was called
Matt M. : 9/27/2024 9:12 am : link
But, it does seem the playcalling changed a bit when we got in the red zone. It seemed we got too conservative. Like running right into the middle of the line on first down after something like 4 or 5 consecutive completions. Or, running on 2nd and long and then throwing short on 3rd and medium to long.

Some of that may be playcalling and may be a lack of trust in Jones. And, that is a whole other issue. But, given Jones history as a 1 read QB, that seems unlikely. I think it is fair to think on at least some of those plays Jones himself was locked in short so as not to throw an INT. Either way, it did seem like the playcalling/execution/field position lent itself to 4 down territory.
