Last year and the year before the offense was slightly more creative. I get the "Jones limits Daboll" stuff. But I can't help but wonder if Mike would have dialed up different calls/schemes.
and the WRs dropped at least half a dozen that could have kept drives alive. I really don’t think play calling ultimately was the problem last night.
Oh yeah, and they called a penalty ON THE WRONG TEAM. Which could well have nullified a TD drive.
I counted 6 drops. Also some underthrown deep balls and balls thrown behind receivers that were caught, but prevented YAC. Previously, I have been a little critical of the playcalling. It may still be an issue. But, in my opinion, the bigger issue is Jones. He is still a 1 read QB and that 1 read does not always seem to be the intended first read. He just decides before the snap where he's going with it and locks in.
and don't take this the wrong way. But did you even watch the game last night? The offensive gameplan was phenomenal. Players were open all over the field. If we had a competent QB who had the ability to complete a 20+ yard pass we win that game by double digits. If you want to complain about kicking a FG from the 3, that would be sensible but that is a head coach decision, not an OC decision. I actually think Daboll has been masterful at calling plays so far this season. His QB has unfortunately been holding back his offense.

I watched all of it. Sure there might be things I didn't see on the broadcast and yes he missed guys, but as far as calling read options or misdirect plays it was very bland.

Everone thinks playcalling is bland when you dont score points. Without trying to be insulting we are not qualified to say if a playcall is creative or not. Youre reacting to a result, dropped pass, no points, etc without knowing what else is going on during the play. You dont see small details like players setting a pick, being used as a decoy to clear out a defense, or whether pre-snap motion made the defense react or create a better opportunity. It all looks bland when the play doesnt succeed.
We are not lacking for opinions and second guessing.
Daboll will get his chance with his own QB to create the next Josh Allen. I am not convinced after 2 years plus the Daboll is the genius some claim he is. After all he has used our franchise for his coaching apprenticeship. His record has not been good and he has made some head scratching moves. You cannot blame Jones for everything wrong with the team or maybe you can. I see some very creative reasons every week.
