I had started one of these threads previously on Sanders. Tonight the spotlight is on Cam Ward. National TV game, Friday night at home against VTech.
Ward has my and probably the nation's attention as there is talk that he is a Heisman front runner right now (along with Hunter). His numbers are gaudy to this point - 72.4 Completions, 14/2 TD/INT, 94.4 QBR, 1439 yard, 11.7 Y/A. However, the schedule has been a little soft thus far, and for that matter, Miami's schedule for the year is pretty soft.
Ward had a reputation for ball security issues prior to this year, but he has not put any balls on the ground this year. Makes you wonder if his prior issues were trying to play hero ball at Washington St.
If you watch his highlights, it is easy to get excited. I see some Mahomes (moving around, throwing off platform, arm angles, ability to escape a pocket and stay looking down field). He also can throw a laser and fit a ball in tight windows. Once thing I want to see is a better deep ball. I have seen some deep balls left short on tape and against South Florida last week - but I have seen some on the money as well. Makes you wonder as the arm strength definitely appears to be there or at least above average.
Anyway, I will be watching tonight...
Not responding well to adversity
Also Miami's interior DL and CB's are getting exposed. I thought that might happen in ACC play.
Oh well.
This game and others like it are why I wasn't pushing for Cam to be drafted here.

Mario Cristobal, BBC.
Big Game Mario.
Man, that was something
Holy shit I would be pissed if I am the tech coach.
Referee’s decide another game.
Of course they're not, they haven't been a contender for several years now. But they definitely look improved and a lot of that is probably due to Ward.
I still don't see anyone as good as OSU, Georgia and Texas. Maybe Alabama can change that tomorrow.
Clemson, won't know until the first week of November when they play Louisville.
Sure they are, V Tech is the type of team that has the athletes who can play with anyone when they are on their game. Usually a game Miami loses
i still dont see the big arm everyone says he has but that's not the most important thing.
i dont quite get the complaints about competition level. every college team plays cupcakes and the acc sucks. not miami's fault UF sucks. that's nothing new. USF played Bama close to the 4th QT and miami blew them out. it's hard to have no letdown weeks, which is why very few teams go undefeated.
shannon dawson is impressing me. doing a nice job blending air raid/spread with cam ward's skill set. i've been surprised miami's running game isnt better with that OL and martinez but they are making it work. the receivers are good but not great.
They did beat those perennial powerhouses Marshall and Old Dominion though :)
