I am sure this has already been discussed a little bit but the fact that Hyatt can't get on the field in his second year in the same system is completely unacceptable for a 3rd rd pick. I don't fault Schoen or Daboll or whoever the WR coach is. I put the blame squarely on #13. The guy has good hands, blazing speed and looks like a prototypical tallish WR. Yet cant get on the field and it has to be about 2 things he is not regularly doing in practice or games
1) Poor blocking compared to Slayton
2) Poor route running or like Theo...not running the right route based on what the defense shows.
We need a second regular sized WR weapon for this offense to really click. We also need it to take some pressure off Nabers who is being over targeted in my view (though I know why bc he is freaking awesome). Love Wandale but his role is around the line of scrimmage or LB level. Useful part of the offense to move the sticks but not a second standard WR threat.
Slayton might have been hurt yesterday enough to sit it out last night but Daboll probably got in Slaytons ear and asked him to stay in and decoy mostly for us.
HYATT, lets go bud. Make progress in the areas that are keeping you on the sidelines. This team needs you.

And he's proving he is what the scouting reports says he was.
Sadly the Giants don't have many options outside of Nabers who can high point the pass and use their body to stem off the defender.
However, I'd agree, there are other things he can do to get on the field and maybe he needs to accept this and work a little harder on them.
Just finished listening to Talking Giants with Nick Falato and their recap of last night. Both guys felt Jones actually looks like he finally has improved the two areas we we most frustrated with....slow processing and poor pocket awareness. Basically they shared the sentiment that isnt beyond frustrating to watch Jones finally look like he understands and commands this offense and knows where to go and is beginning to hit the short stuff in stride etc only to be totally incapable of throwing it long or to the field side (longer part from the far hash). I guess this is not a skill that can be improved on...maybe its physical with the neck things. Who knows. Either way this team needs someone else at QB to take the next step
If Schoen is here next April, he knows they need a QB and one that'll reset the cap so they can spend more freely (corner!). Sign a cheapo QB in free agency to be the backup.

Sam Darnold and Justin Fields have both looked better than Jones so far. They could have improved the QB but they didn’t want to give Daniel a competition he would lose.

You didn’t enjoy those perfectly placed deep passes last night? Oh wait, I’m thinking of the rookie QB from the Washington game, not the 6 year veteran who is built like a prototypical QB, but can’t hit the broad side of a barn.

No QB entering free agency who will be better than what Jones has been. Don't want to hear any horse manure about Winston.

This! Remember they also had Russell Wilson in this summer who came and left without a contract (probably due to the fact Giants said this is Jones's team if he is healthy). N idea if Russ was going to have a renaissance year or not (and he appears hurt apparently because he is not out there when Fields is playing pretty poorly even though their team is 3-0) Point being sometimes there are options outside of status quo. I am done with our QB, I would literally prefer Flacco who still has an arm...even if he is totally immobile at this point. Hell with our O line pass protection prowess so far this yr....he would be legit on the long ball stuff

Fields is managing an offense averaging just 17 PPG and is 22nd in points per drive (with a defense 1st in PA, 1st in yards allowed and 1st in 3rd down). They're 3-0 and their defense is giving up 8.6 PPG. Daniel isn't playing great by any means and still has a higher QBR and more TD's. Pittsburgh has 3 total TD's in three games.
Draft a kid. These low end starters are just delaying the inevitable.
But we saw Hyatt make significant plays last year, he can be a factor on this offense. Even if you're sure he's fairly one-dimensional as a receiver, that dimension is really good, and that is a dimension, given what they have with Nabers and Wan'Dale, that's a compliment that can be used to great effectiveness, assuming DJ can get him the ball downfield, which of course, isn't something we can assume.

Fields hasn’t been in the Steelers offense for 3 years
You make a good point. He is leaner and less physical than most receivers that height. I'm 5'6" and wrestled at the college level at 126 and weigh relatively close to him today (150lbs). I literally cant imagine being in an NFL game and having to absorb a hit from a 240 lb linebacker. Boy needs to both eat and train to be able to sustain himself
Yup. He was given every shot as WR2 in the spring and camp. The fact they essentially demoted him for Slayton is telling

Jones and his deep ball are just part of the problem. Defenses have also been sitting back taking the long ball away from us. As a result, we are calling plays where the WRs are running routes underneath. When you look at our personnel, there just is no place for Hyatt. The coaches have determined that Slayton is a better option right now. Hyatt will never bump Nabers or Robinson off of the field, and we are almost always going to have a TE and RB on the field.
So how often do you want Hyatt to replace Slayton?
The guy is not attacking the football and is allowing the defenders to make a play on the ball before he does. His hands are also not the greatest.
