This Brian Daboll comment on Darius Slayton caught my attention today: "I thought Slay did a good job of creating separation. He had a couple opportunities. He could’ve had about five for over a hundred." An obvious reference to Daniel Jones missing the two deep throws #Giants

The drops as well

So maybe get a QB who can, ya know, sling the rock deep?

Too risky. Terps is probably right. Mara’s got his eye on drafting a top 10 RB this year to replace Barkley.
This is not the first time this year

There has been a shot at the QB in his pressers if you read between the lines. Jones has left yards on the field multiple times this year.
This isnt helpful out of context

Because you make it sound like it could be interpreted as a shot at Jones

Well Daboll was effusive in his praise on Jones. I mean he is “proud” of him

Maybe Daboll just praises everyone now and wants to be a players coach
Put me in the drops category

The deep shot that was a bit underthrown could/should have been caught. Then the 3rd down and about 11 pass to the has that was low and away /tough catch but catchable at key moment...Slay is good but not great...career of catches that aren't made that would have made for a different game....really like him and he makes plays but just a little to prone to a drop at big time/tough catch...bummer IMHO

I almost took the "proud" of him as a backhanded comment. Like, he sucks but I'm proud of him for hanging in there and not being downright awful. I have never heard a coach say he was proud of a good player, usually its always a practice squad type guy who is just trying hard.
Slayton has a lot of nice qualities as a receiver.....

However his ball skills are atrocious and that's a real problem for a WR!

Would you consider the ball that was picked off when Slayton was open by 5 yards a drop as well? (the one that was called back for offsides). You conveniently "forgot" to mention that one.
The whole reason Slayton stays around...
islander1 : 9/27/2024 4:09 pm : link
...is because he gets open. He fairly consistently gets open in the NFL. That's kinda hard to do.

Just has hands of stone, and it sucks.

Yeah, "proud" in that he didn't turn the ball over and Daboll has to make nice in public. Not "proud" like he did an outstanding job and was not responsible for some of the issues.
His quote is 100% accurate

.
It’s also an obvious reference that he has too many drops.
DeVito32 : 9/27/2024 7:29 pm : link
It’s no guarantee he’s catching a deep ball on target when he can’t catch a ball within 20 yards

Yep. The actions are he didn't go for it on 4th down deep in Dallas territory because he probably doesn't trust Jones. Proud of him though almost like he feels sorry for him. It's a mess.

I have a 3-year-old, and someone taught him this idea of doing hard things. When he climbs a ridiculously dangerous rock wall at the playground he says "Daddy, I can do hard things."

Opposite of the Giants.

I truly don't believe the Giants have more than two offensive players who can do hard things. Nabers and Thomas.

If there is a hard blocking assignment, and hard throw, hard catch, hard run to be had -- more times than not I don't think they have the players to do it.
