The most common phrase from being live at MetLife Stadium last night: “At least they didn’t get blown out” Add that to Brian Daboll hammering “improvement” in his presser as his team moves to 1-3 (7-15 since playoff win in Minnesota) and that all but sums up where there barometer has been, and remains. “At least they didn’t get blown out” An “improvement” |
Season is over now, stands will be empty moving forward. Team is limited at the most important position.
pretty pathetic.
I didn't attend a single game after the SNF game v. Dallas.
And guess what, the stands were pretty full the rest of the season.
Another lost season, but none more predictable than this year.
Bring in Vrabel and let him decide who his GM will be.
Yup, that's where we are at....

Yeah, well, what can I tell ya'... it's my cash cow! You'll get nothing... and like it! Now drop and give me 20, MF!

firing everyone again huh? how about no and you go fire yourself as a fan.
A division game at home is considered a success if it is a game in the 4th quarter, and some players played well.
They hope to win games, but it isn't expected by anybody. Be a good teammate and try hard, and you have a place with the New York Giants.

By avg attendace, they are number two according to ESPN's numbers and number 3 according to Yahoo's numbers.

Unfortunately the Giants MO is try to win as many games as possible as soon as possible rather than having any kind of long term strategic plan. In the last years of Eli, there were mistakes made because of this bit it was understandable because of Elis stature and legacy. Now, not so much.
I care far, far less about the outcomes of games when we are bad/mediocre than I do about having a plan to actually be good. To me, the biggest takeaway from last night was that our pass protection was great. That's awesome and it's been a long time since that was true.
I really think we have the bones of something here if we could get a QB. But we haven't invested in anyone and we still might not this offseason. Keeping Daniel and using our 1st round pick on a CB or DL will probably result in more wins in 2025 than drafting a QB.

Fire everyone. Schoen and Daboll suck and they're going backwards.

What does that even mean? I can't walk away from the Giants if I tried lol.
I just don't know what else people like you need to see. What are Schoen and Daboll buildings towards exactly? Why are they going backwards? Why do people try to separate them from Daniel Jones at this point?
The whole tone around this franchise has become so weird. It's like there are people who know they're not any good but are just afraid to face it so they speak in these terms like "positive spin" "good enough" "talent is better".
What evidence is there that Schoen and Daboll have made any progress when you keep in mind the only thing we have to tangibly look at, their record, is going the wrong way and is telling us the opposite?
They can beat Seattle and be 2-3 and then go from there. This is a very long season, just gotta play better.
2 of 3 games were winnable so I'm still optimistic

I get it. It's just become so tiresome to go through these mental exercises, EVERY season. If this, if that....
So I took that as a backhanded compliment. Being proud of someone usually means the guy is overmatched but hung in there and did the best he could. I don't take it as he was actually good, and I've never heard a coach say he was proud of a good players. Second, what do you want him to say publicly, Jones sucks? That is a quick way to lose all the players.
Same. It won't be good enough later this season in Dallas... but, yeah.
I get that everyone's dissatisfied but that's not true. The pass rush is a lot better. They had 34 sacks as a *team* last year.
They have 15 thru week 4 in 2024 and it's not because of one player. Numerous players are contributing to it.
83 QB hits in 2023.
29 thru week 4 in 2024.

I agree. Its going to be met with hostility on some threads but this isn't a 1 or 2 win team. The team will win some games people don't expect them to. Personally, I'm expecting a win vs Seattle.
seeing devin s. in 26 is just not yielding the same results.

When Daboll looks at the tape with the players, plays are being missed. Jones is missing deep throws. The fastest way to lose the team is continuing to play and coddle the QB who isn't delivering results. For as efficient Jones was, he missed explosive plays down field.
And maybe Daboll doesn't trust him, than either Schoen & Daboll got the evaluation so blatantly wrong this year with no back up plan or they didn't have a grasp on his health if that is impacting his deep ball.
We heard all these stories about how aggressive Daboll was going to run the offense, yet he's already back to running the 2022 offense.
I'd imagine Penix wouldn't miss those throws.
Let's say we go into next season with a real OL, blooming 2ndary, improved pass rush and a legit WR Corp that is competitive consistently we are moving in the right direction.
Many of us have been making the same complaints for years: low standards, poor planning, nepotism, general incompetence. Nothing has changed, and there is no reason to believe it will. Any success the Giants enjoy will be as much the result of parity and luck as it will anything they do themselves.
Yards/Play:
2024: 4.7
2023: 4.5
2022: 5.2
RZ TD Rate:
2024: 50%
2023: 44.2%
2022: 63.3%
That’s really funny. Bet it was a memorable day.

If they ever actually try to improve QB and hit, it should get better. This still remains a QB issue. A lot of owners suck and teams win.

We don't hit the opposing QB, we can't run the ball, can't make any big plays in the passing game unless it's a blatantly blown coverage and even then it's for the most minimal big play possible. They have improved in pass blocking and in little else.

Those numbers include the Browns game, which was an anomaly in terms of sacks, pressures, etc.
It counts, but that is going to smooth out over time.
So that's the problem and why this regime has failed.
We have a $40 million QB, a Pro Bowl LT in his prime, a franchise DT in his prime, two pass rushers - one a big money FA and the other a former #5 overall pick.
This is a team built to win now.
The fact that it's not is an utter organizational failure and it starts with the Maras.
I agree, but 5 years is way too much additional time. Pick a QB in 2025 and make the playoffs by 2026. Patience is a virtue, but at some point it gets ridiculous. I like Daboll but the leash is getting shorter
Really? People on this site said the same about Darnold and we got embarrassed at home. Dalton is a good QB and he will most likely have a career day against us
Do you realize how improbable it is to go 1-16? There is no chance that is happening.
