My positive spin

I was pissed as anyone yesterday but I think as many holes as this team has all over the lineup, the last few weeks albeit against weak competition have shown us that the biggest hole is QB and I think we see that while we're probably missing a WR and RB on offense, the line is good enough and Nabers and even Wandale are good enough that with an even average QB we could be a decent offense. And the defense while the secondary sucks is manageable. We're not close to being contenders yet but if we just had an average QB we'd be a playoff team and not a fugazi one like in 2022. I know this sounds like "at least we didn't get blown out". And I hate that thinking but when you lose 40-0 you know it's more than the QB but we improved enough IMHO that we could be decent with just an average QB. The biggest hole being DJ is something we already knew. We see that while there are almost no elite QBs teams have been doing fine with the likes of Darnold and Mayfield. Now that we have a line and Nabers a guy of that ilk can be productive, IMO.
I agree with this

The problem is the timeline. Most rookies QBs suck, so even if we draft one, we're still looking at at least 1 more year with bad QB play. And that's if the guy is actually good.

If we had been taking chances on developmental guys in a pipeline we might have someone decent (or at least very cheap) to plug in next year.
There will probably be a dozen or so bridge QBs available next year

Darnold, Wilson, Wilson, Mullens, Brissett, Flacco, Winston, Dalton, Fields, Garoppolo, Mac Jones, Heinicke, Mariota.

If the next guy isn't ready yet, I would bet at least half those guys could keep you competitive.
As inconsistent and frustrating as our offense is

I am more worried about our D. The secondary is decent, but not great. We really a pass rush to mask some of their deficiencies. I was expecting a 3 headed monster with Dex, KT, and Burns. Instead, KT and Burns have a handful of impactful plays combined through 4 games. We got pressure (a ton) last week by blitzing. This week we got none and never adjusted.
I agree that our D is more concerning.

I think the secondary has talent and will get better. But our front 4 has been awful and that is killing us. Little pass rush outside of Cleveland. Pushed way back on run plays. When Dex is out, teams run at will. Burns needs to play much better.

And we have not faced highly regarded OLs the last 3 games. Opponents point totals have been kept down by us dominating TOP. I fear their performance will get worse. If you can't stop the run OR rush the passer, you don't have a competitive defense.
Dont agree with the OP

On a few things.

1--- The OL failed miserably. How is it that they couldn't get enough of a push? The Giants can't be looking ot get more skiled postio ns vs havign their OL be more than just decent. They aren't getting a super top notch QB in a while. The best move is to go more for OL.

2--- The team can't strive to be decent or mediocre. If the OL and the DL are not strong, a mediocre QB or worse doesn't help. On Defense, the Giants played two teams that have had decent running - and they ran the ball down the Giants throat. With the Secondary being mediocre at best too, they are a long way from being good unless it's a draft or FA focus.

But this year we are not a "decent" team. We're a subpar team unless the QB is very, very good. .
