Every year for the last decade I’ve hoped at the start of the season they’d compete. I’m forever an optimist.
That being said, deep down we all knew this wasn’t going to be a Super Bowl year. However, despite that, I’m still more optimistic for the future than I’ve been.
This team is well positioned to draft a rookie QB without the scenario being a dumpster fire.
Similar to the Vikings when they picked McCarthy (I think widely considered to be an ideal landing spot for a rookie QB), this team has a star WR, a really great offensive mind calling plays and running the offense, and an offensive line situation that won’t result in the QB scrambling for his life on every play.
So many rookie QBs with talent flame out because of the situation they’re out in. I don’t think the Giants will be one of those.
It’s a bummer knowing so early in the season we have to wait a full year again before we can hope for true success but at least I do feel confident that we’ve finally turned the corner and can expect some success in the relatively near future.
No question another QB can come in and have more success.
You mentioned he has a great offensive mind
Just curious

If you haven’t, watch the Big Blue Banter all-22 film reviews on YouTube after each game. They spend an hour going over like 6-8 plays and showing what every player on the field is doing. Watching those has really expanded my appreciation for the chess match of football, but to your question specifically, they demonstrate why Daboll is so good at what he does.
Player evaluation
Coach selection
In game decision making
Player motivation
Those are a few. I don't see where Daboll stands out in those areas.
I think of Parcells, Coughlin, and Daboll is not in their league
Then we need to find another QB through free agency. DJ is the issue whether you believe it or not. 6 years and he is not a winner in any form or shape.
All we keep doing is trying the same shit over and over again hoping for different results. Playing team sports you know when someone has it or doesn’t. The other 52 know he doesn’t but go along with it. This is insane and it has to stop.
If this years draft produces any top talent I could see Schoen trading 3 1sts. Also, seemingly half the league drafted a Qb last year so there probably won’t be the same competition for QBs as was present last draft.
I get the QB has some limitations. Adapt your playcalling. Use some imagination in the redzone.
Running short on hope for the Giants at the moment.
