In a fitting end to a weird season where no team has run away from the pack, we will see if the Yankees can successfully back into the top seed in the AL. Pittsburgh leads 6-2 in the penultimate game of the season, where the magic number for NYY is 1.
Because they have lost 4 of their last 5 games.
The magic number went from 2 to 1 last night because Cleveland lost.
Fuck.

All they have to do is win tomorrow and they have it. They may even have it before the end of the day. Don't forget Cleveland is facing the Astros so they have tough competition too.

They are sitting people, but they should be beating the Pirates.
Fuck.
Two fingers actually.

Rizzo has had some weird breaks this year. Looks like Cabrera will be starting at first.
Do us a favor? Stop checking scores, ;o
Hahaha

Might want to check what Cleveland has done over the last 10 as well 5-5. Same as Yanks. Nobody's backing into shit. The Yanks have pretty much been the best team in the AL all year and they proved it by clinching the best record.
Tigers have a one game lead; Royals have the tiebreaker; so the seeding is not settled going into the final day.
But Royals have shown they don't care much about the seeding and they will be playing in ATL against a Braves team that does care.
So Detroit will probably keep the 5 seed, even if the lose (again) to the White Sox.
Which means Tigers would play Orioles in the Wild Card round, the winner playing the Yanks in the ALDS.
Astros would get Royals, winner playing CLE.

oh
So who would replace him on the playoff roster? Don't be surprised if Ben Rice not only takes Rizzo's spot on the roster, but also starts at first base.
Rice ended his MiLB season on a hot streak, homering in 4 of his last 6 games.
I just hope they're not thinking of using DJ LeMahieu.

Hopefully Cabrera and DJ remains on IL.
So:
Orioles-Royals, winner plays Yanks.
Astros-Tigers, winner plays CLE.
:)
He's playing better than the Martian. He should be starting.

Not sure he is playing better. Verdugo is clearly the better OF. Dominguez probably better at the plate. I think we are seeing why the Yankees wanted to keep Dominguez in SWB. He still is a bit lacking in the field(he shouldn't be) and needs some work at the plate.
It is a wide open playoffs.
