A great player and I haven’t really ever had a problem with his flamboyance. Honest question: explain to me why his behavior is such a negative and would actually impact the scouting and ranking for Shadeur. I have an open mind,
before he announced he wasn't coming out, and the Giants are a pretty buttoned-down organization. This Forum is very concerned about the "circus" that comes with Deion; I doubt any NFL team, including the Giants, is going to take the kid off their draft board because of his father. The Cowboys would probably LOVE to get him.
And a con artist who is a making a fortune selling hopes and dreams of the NFL to college kids all to raise his public awareness so he can make more KFC commercials and whatever else he can do for a quick buck.

How do you explain his record at Jackson State where he was basically coaching pro bono and finished 27-6 before Colorado?

Nobody says the man can't recruit. Even be a great motivator for a generation of players who can be difficult to reach.
I wouldn't even say he's not a good coach. My problem is that, when you get to the bottom of it, it's all about Deion. If you're a football coach who's got his own theme music, I have to question your commitment to ideals and principles that aren't about you.

How much do you think he made of the “coach prime” Documentary? Tried to sell what he is doing as helping black youth. First chance he got, he left and took a fat paycheck at Colorado. He has been, and always will be about the money.
Dion did not like contact especially later in his career.

He was successful at Jax State and that created demand from bigger schools. So, he took a bigger, more lucrative job. Gee, that never happens
Meanwhile, Curt Cignetti was tremendously successful at James Madison where he was making about $500K. Indiana offered him $4M+ and Madison couldn't match, so he went to Bloomington.

Is Cignetti all about the money, too?
And we can at least acknowledge that Deion was always honest about his situation. He went on 60 Minutes while at Jackson State and basically said he'd move on to a more lucrative job when that the opportunity presented itself.

Exactly.
Look, Deion is a black man who speaks his mind and is disrupting the system.

Give me a break with the race card garbage. I can care less what color Deion is. Great player and seems to be a decent coach. I worry more about his son growing up rich and not having the same hunger his Dad did to be successful from a Giants drafting him standpoint.

If you don't think criticism launched at Deion - not saying you - than you are being naive. It's out there.
Regardless, I get your concern about Shadeur. But if you watch him enough, you won't see a pampered athlete on the field. He is the toughest QB in the country. Guy has a great chin and will hang in the pocket - to a fault - and deliver under big pressure.

I love Deon and love his brashness but to constantly insinuate that someone is racist if they dare criticize a black player/coach is asinine. At best. This isn’t the first time you’ve insisted people are racist for criticizing a black person either.

Giants fans are a rare breed. Many of them are petrified of any sort of personality whatsoever. They want a team of 53 choir boys. But I’m not going to sit here and call everyone racist. I’ve seen plenty of posters on here hating Aaron Rodgers because he doesn’t conform to the norm and he’s brash. Racist? Eh…
But he's turned around a moribund Colorado program, which was a perennial doormat before he got there. They moved to 4-1 today...they were something like a 12-point underdog to UCF on the road, and they won by 27. Watching their o-line is sometimes like watching the Giants' o-line of recent years so he still has plenty of work to do, but he has them on the right track.

I’m on the same page as you Shock. Unfortunately this is the world we live in today. Keep in mind all of us are rooting for a roster of mostly black players to be successful, wear their jerseys, etc. But the race card keeps getting pulled. I shit on Daboll (or Davoli) all the time. If our coach was black I would criticize him the same way as Daboll. We really need to move on from this as a society.

The topic is Sanders. And I'm reading comments earlier in this thread about Sanders being a bad guy because he went to a bigger school for more money. JFC, that happens every year in college football (I even gave an example of Curt Cignetti leaving James Madison for Indiana).
What's the point of criticizing a guy for doing something that is a constant in the sport?

You brought up race. No one else did. White coaches have been criticized for going to bigger schools to make more money as well. It’s not a race issue.

Are you seriously suggesting white coaches haven’t been criticized for the same damn thing? You need to wake the hell up if you think that’s the case. Coaches get destroyed every single season for saying how much love where they’re at and then leaving for the next big thing

Well apparently to him being obnoxious is a black thing if he thinks criticizing him for being obnoxious is being racist against black people. Not sure who the racist is.
Is there any chance of him leaving college coaching when Shadeur goes to the NFL? If he stays as college coach, how much damage could he possibly do while focusing on his own team? Bitching to the press from half the country away?

You're talking about, on one hand, a guy who goes out of his way to make headlines when he talks to the press, and on the other, a New York City sports media culture that will eagerly make hay of anything he says. And there's no sell by date on this stuff. He can say something in March and it will be recycled for content in October.
Deion's already made it clear there are certain NFL teams that he won't allow to draft Shedeur. So I don't think we're crazy to expect he'll make some effort to stage-manage his son's early NFL career.
He is Neon Deion... bringing flash and the spotlight.
He likely instilled a good work ethic into his son because Deion is old school. It is all of the off-the-field nonsense that I fear would rub off.
Nice Guy
Sometimes it has worked out sometimes it hasn’t
Nice Guy
He always supported Eli when he did commentary. I'm sure he's a good guy, but it doesn't mean you draft his kid early.
How do you explain his record at Jackson State where he was basically coaching pro bono and finished 27-6 before Colorado?

Giants fans are a rare breed. Many of them are petrified of any sort of personality whatsoever. They want a team of 53 choir boys. But I’m not going to sit here and call everyone racist. I’ve seen plenty of posters on here hating Aaron Rodgers because he doesn’t conform to the norm and he’s brash. Racist? Eh…

This is a factual question. What has Deion done? This isnt opinion mongering. What has he done? Facts.

If this is true, then why haven't the AD and the president of CU pulled the plug on this bad reality tv show disguised as a football program?
Deion is basically Lavar Ball with a coaching job.
