Sy56 QB early draft assessment prior to college 2024 season

jomanc : 9/28/2024 7:40 pm
I am sure Sy will update his opinion on the best QB for the 2025 draft, but as of this link he had Jalen Milroe (alabama) as the best of the top 5 he reviewed. will look forward to see where he rates Milroe by end of season
Sy's early overview on best qb in 2025 draft - ( New Window )
Milroe or Ward.
Jon In NYC : 9/28/2024 7:41 pm : link
Gotta finish bottom 2
Kinda surprised he doesnt
barens : 9/28/2024 7:49 pm : link
Have Ewers.
This doesn’t sound like a great class
HardTruth : 9/28/2024 8:16 pm : link
Beck & Ewers sound like Jones 2.0
milroe vs. beck game on right now
jomanc : 9/28/2024 8:19 pm : link
milroe has 1 running td and 1 passing td. alabama up 14-0. Still early.
As long as Daboll/Jones combo continues
thrunthrublue : 9/28/2024 8:21 pm : link
1-16, and a top ‘25 qb selection is within reach…..
gotta watch Ewers again
RAIN : 9/28/2024 8:27 pm : link
not been impressed when I've seen him.
I think this class is much better than projected, and I think there
PatersonPlank : 9/28/2024 8:45 pm : link
are a lot of top QB prospect. Ward, Ewers, and Milroe lead the pack for me. However Beck, Dart, Nussmeier are also good
Beck just had a stock market crash
jomanc : 9/28/2024 9:11 pm : link
just threw his 2nd interception at end of 2nd quarter. Sy's pre-season opinion was right on and milroe may end up being his choice for giants if they get the chance.
I don’t see it with Beck
Breeze_94 : 9/28/2024 9:12 pm : link
Not sure he does anything well.

I’d rank them

1. Milroe
2. Ward
3. Ewers
4. Sanders (undraftable personality)
5. Allar
6. Miller Moss
7. Beck
8. Dart
Please put Nussmaier
Maggot Brain : 9/28/2024 9:14 pm : link
on any top ten list. Keeping LSU in games as the Tigers defense is trash.
never thought i would say this but
jomanc : 9/28/2024 9:17 pm : link
i would keep daniel jones over beck

Milroe is currently murdering Georgia while Beck looks like Daniel Jones 2.0.

I'd be shocked if Sanders is on the Giants board.

Sanders would be eaten alive in NY. I don’t think he has “it”.
There isn’t a qb in this draft
lax counsel : 9/28/2024 9:47 pm : link
Unfortunately the Giants continue to suck at the wrong time, or make the wrong draft choices…Hope I’m wrong, but this smells like the 2013 draft class.

You are nuts. Milroe and ward are STUDS.

Will be available next week. More than willing to discuss then.

I must say, I’m a bit disappointed. After huddlin up at the clubhouse, the best the DJFC came out of the meetings with are the predictable “everyone sucks in this draft” talking point? Boooo. Was hoping for something a little more creative but it’s certainly not surprising. When’s the next meeting? I look forward to the riveting discussions on why the Giants should just move forward with Jones for another year
Milroe and Ward are my QB1A and QB1B
Anakim : 9/28/2024 11:37 pm : link
Beck has now dropped to 4
Milroe wins the Beck bowl
jomanc : 9/28/2024 11:41 pm : link
Milroe 27/33 374 yds, 2 passing tds and 2 rushing tds. and 1 int. rushed for 117 yds with 2 tds. Beck did have a better 2nd half but had 3 int's and 1 fumble loss

I may be wrong but I don't think Lax is known as a Jones defender.
Well
BleedBlue : 9/29/2024 2:32 am : link
Mil looked the part that’s for sure. I watched ward versus tech, he looked kinda shaky at times and absolutely dynamic others. He made some insane throws and a few head scratchers.

Overall though I think he has a ton of tools and Daboll would love a qb like him
Milroe looks like the real deal
Maijay : 9/29/2024 6:16 am : link
He made big plays last night with his arm and legs against a top defense. Right now I'd love to see him in Giant Blue.
Don't see it with Moss
k2tampa : 9/29/2024 8:32 am : link
He's accurate but so many of his passes aren't tight spirals, they wobble. And his arm doesn't look good enough.
Best arm and tight spiral I've seen this year is Johnson from Kansas State. Unfortunately he's just a sophomore. More bad timing for Giants.
Signature moment for Jalin Milroe last night
The Mike : 9/29/2024 8:44 am : link
Sy was spot on once again in his early assessment here. Milroe's "superstar potential" was fulfilled last night in what can only be described as Milroe's signature moment in his quest for the Heisman Trophy this year. I saw a guy with a "sky's the limit" ceiling - a ceiling as good or better than any of the quarterbacks that were drafted in the first round of 2024.

2025 should be a much more interesting quarterback class than I had previously thought. Maybe there is reason to hope again in East Rutherford...
Strange Sy Comment About Shedeur
Jim in Tampa : 9/29/2024 9:05 am : link
Not really a fan of Shedeur Sanders (I prefer Milroe or Ward) but I thought one of Sy's comments about Shedeur was a little odd. Sy said:

"One thing that I am concerned by is the fact that his dad has been his coach or OC since high school. Do we even know if this kid can manage on his own?"

I know that everyone wants to factor Deion into a Shedeur evaluation. But don't all QBs at every level have coaches that coach them up to help them get better? And once they're on the field, don't all QBs have to manage on their own?

Not to mention the fact that in all other cases I can remember, when an NFL player grew up as a football coach's son, it's almost always presented as a positive thing and an advantage for the player.

So why would being a coach's son now somehow be a disadvantage for Shedeur? And why would he have trouble managing on his own, just because his father has been his coach?

Keeps on winning and putting up numbers. Not a running QB but seems to see the field and hit open receivers. Impressed with what Cignetti has done with the Indiana program. Seeing them against Michigan and Ohio State will be fun.
I would take Milroe right now...especially after last night.
GiantBlue : 9/29/2024 10:34 am : link
He can crank it up vs. big competition.

He is a strong kid with a strong arm and can run enough to cause defenses fits.
I want to see Beck
BigBlueCane : 9/29/2024 10:50 am : link
with a legitimate Offensive mind coaching him and not Mike Bobo whose stuck in the 90s.
Dart

Minroe will be/is a star
