Justin Fields for a 6th or 4th... Steelers Are Smart

It is not a question of whether Fields is a franchise QB. It is a question of competition. Russell Wilson gets hurt and Fields steps in. He looked a little slow getting started this season but today, he had 3 great drives against the Colts. I certainly wish the Giants had him instead of Lock.

Offense has been pretty bad up until this game. Even today, they scored more but he gambled at a big moment. And the Colts aren't some world beaters.

If Pittsburgh can't stop teams like they did historically through the first three games, they won't win many games.

Not to say Lock is any good, either. Giants will draft a kid next year and you start over. Not deal with retreads.
This is ridiculous...

Fields is not a good QB. The Bears gave up on him for a reason.

Nobody here wanted to go after Fields and he has not been good with the Steelers.

He may have gotten you some fantasy points today, but they lost today.

Oh, like the Jets gave up on Darnold and the Browns on Mayfield?
it was a no brainer if only because he is cheaper than lock by 4m

and also better.
It's smart
pjcas18 : 9/29/2024 5:05 pm : link
because the Steelers feel like they have a contending team outside of QB and of all the options available to them at QB they have two QB's who they feel like can basically not lose games for them - unlike the prior couple years - and on the salary cap they cost a combined $4.6M on the 2024 salary cap with $0 2025 salary cap commitment.

Neither Fields or Wilson is probably a long-term answer, but with the minimal investment they're smart additions.

Fields isn't a great QB, but he's been pretty good for Pittsburgh.

He had some mishaps today with the snaps, but he threw for 300+, a passing TD, 9+ YPA, 2 running TDs, no INTs. And he put up 24 on the road. He did lose a fumble on a freaky situation.

Nobody here wanted Fields OR Mayfield. BBI is where people come to learn how to be a Monday Morning General Manager.

Uh, that's wrong. Those guys, especially Fields, were brought up often as possible acquisitions.

Mike Tomlin is the best active coach in the league and the most underrated coach of our collective lifetimes. Took Mason Rudolph to the playoffs, he pull a weekend at Bernie’s with the QB, or trot out 3 kids stacked in a trench coat and he’d still win 9 games. Not sure Fields performs as well in blue

fields hasnt even been that good. the giants would be 1-3 or 0-4 with him.

he would have saved them $4m over lock though.
I said this numerous times in the off season

Fields should have been traded for. Hes 25 years old and had 20 touchdowns last season. For a 6th was a no brainer.

Problem with Giants front office is they HATE a QB "controversy" even if it's in the best interest of the team....

Remember how quickly Lock had to re-explain himself to media after he said the giants signed him to compete for the starting job.... Next day he said just kidding im the back up.

The front office didn't want to deal with a Justin Fields "controversy" to start so instead they sat tight with Daniel dink and dunk.

I absolutely wanted Fields for a 6th. An elite athlete with promising talent at the most difficult position to fill on the field? We have no competition or competence at that position for years? Sign me up! What the Bears did is meaningless. They’re a disaster.
