Yes, he looks great. But we have no idea what kind of career he will have or whether he will be able to escape injury. He seems to play stronger than his frame would suggest but he is still relatively thin and small for the position. I don't wish injuries on him or anyone else. But we will have to see if he is durable.
We have been here before. RG3 had a passer rating of 102.4 with 3,200 yards passing. 20 TDs v 5 picks in 15 games. He was absolutely dominant. And yet the guy they drafted 2 rounds later had the much better NFL career and is still playing.
This is a long-term process. And had we tanked fully, we may have ended up drafting Williams anyway. We are where we are. We know Jones isn't it. And it is frustrating to see Washington doing well with him. But who knows if any of the other QBs drafted (before or after) will end up as the best one.
Redskins offense that year was smoke and mirrors. The 2024 Commanders has guys like Brian Robinson breaking tackles like he's Jim Brown and their line giving ultimate protection. Bobby Johnson is coaching those guys, yet sucked here. Maybe it was a talent issue, but then again Bricillo doesn't have Josh Ezeudu and Evan Neal starting at T. Reminder - ( New Window )
kingsbury offense are known to be great in the first7-8 games
Daniels looks so good…I live in northern Va and have to listen tot shot now everyday but wtf were the giants suppose to do…loose on purpose and hope to secure a QB THATS FUCKING DUMB! maybe we should lose the rest of this and next season so we can draft arch in 2026
This kid is the goods. Very accurate, can make all the throws, pass first QB who can improvise. Great speed, smart runner, really smooth athlete. Great composure. I think this guy will be a star in the league for a long time and will BY FAR be the best QB in this draft crop.
Two great young talented QB’s in Stroud and Daniels. The next wave to be among the best QB IMO. Commanders are in good shape.
It’s a small sample and I would not read too much into it.
It’s definitely a good start for him, which is better than a bad start, but the jury is still going to be out for a while. Also as others have mentioned, he seems very likely to have injury problems.

RG III stats were off the charts his rookie year as well. Once NFL teams get more film on Daniels/and or the injury factor, you just don't know what is going to happen.

I’ve seen enough to have an opinion. Stats aside, he is a very different QB than RG3 was. Of course defenses will make adjustments…I’ve seen enough and feel confident he is a special player. RG3 was a runner who could throw. This guy is a complete QB who can run and is a great athlete. Time will tell, but I know what I’m seeing.
I have very little doubt Daniels is the goods based on what we've seen. He's just got it. The only question for me is whether he holds up physically. He's taking too many big hits so far.
Didn't watch his game this week. From stats perspective, he is 26/30, 233 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT. 1 throw over 20 yards at 27. And everyone thinks he played amazinly well.
As a comparison, Jones this week is 29/40, 281 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT (last second hail mary) . 2 throws over 20 yards at 39 and 28. And everyone thinks he is trash. He is the #1 reason Giants' lost this week.
Why are the evaluations so drastically different with stats not too far off?

Because stats can only be seen in the context of what you actually see with your own eyes.

Stats are for losers. You have to watch the game. Did you make the clutch throws? Did you make the big plays? Did you fit the ball into a tight window with guys at your feet? Did you make the smart decisions to throw the ball away or slide and protect yourself on a run? Did you know when you had to make a play to win the game - and you made it? Don’t get too hung up on stats - watch the games, watch the player.
I'm hoping that some of his success has to do with some smart scheming by the coaching staff. If it is then the defenses will figure it out, a month is about the right time for this.
If not he's going to be a pain in the ass for years

1) the completion percentage is significantly higher
2) he threw a touchdown
3) his team scored touchdowns
4) his team won

Suppose the Giants had decided to tank last year. How would they have done it? How about starting an undrafted rookie at QB for multiple games?
I wanted when it seemed like the Giants would have the #1 or #2 pick last season. Then they won meaningless games with Cutlets. Nabers is great but it hurts seeing Jayden do so well early on. With the Giants luck they’ll take themselves out of range of a QB again or draft the next Bryce Young.. it’s hard to think of anything positive happening for this franchise.
but also question how long he will be able to play without getting hurt. He is damn good though. Having said all that, people are really underrating RGIII's rookie year in this thread. He was able to run and pass extremely well when he first came onto the scene.
early returns on Daniels are similar, but who knows if he can keep it up.
Thing is the posters that have a love fest with Daniels don't acknowledge a lot of his completions are bubble screens. He looks good and the part, don't get me wrong. But these same posters that whine Jones doesn't throw the ball down the field don't have the same criticism. There is also no mention that Daniels has benefited from only having 1 dropped pass.

Daniels has played four games in the NFL.
He’s thrown roughly the same amount of passes in the 10-19 range as Jones. Daniels is completing 81% and jones is completing 59%.
His team is averaging 30 ppg, Jones’ is averaging 15.
Williams was pretty good today, actually.
You watched the game today and thought Caleb Williams looked terrible? man, high bar for some of you. I thought he looked pretty good.
...kinda wish we had a QB who thought like that.

been incredible. Meanwhile, the guy who goes #1 looks terrible.

.Last thing I saw today was he was getting booed by the home crowd.
Some of us here felt he'd be the best. Too many were hung up on 195 pounds. Still only 4 games in though. Still has lots to prove.
But hey, we got Daniel Jones. By year 11, it'll all click!

If he keeps this up, total jackpot for WSH.
I need to see more than one season, let alone merely four weeks.
But those four weeks on the whole have been extremely impressive.

Another poster - MOOPS? - made an excellent point earlier.
This is Sam Darnold's seventh year, and it looks like he's finally popped. So, that means Jones needs that critical seventh season in 2025.
But hey, we got Daniel Jones. By year 11, it'll all click!
Give it time.
Gets hurt, you mean like Daniel gets hurt, Mrs Jones?

It's RG III all over again. I think ultimately he gets hurt.

The first one was on a run against Baltimore when Haloti Ngata hit him low, and RG's leg went sideways.

watch for a 2nd half decline.

Those comments were truly some of the craziest I have ever seen on here.

We’ve heard it every year. How the end of the season wins would be great for development.
