Cleveland is going to

jvm52106 : 9/29/2024 6:35 pm
Implode soon. They are fighting with each other and just seem discombobulated. Watson looks pretty bad and I can't imagine he is too popular with a lot of his teammates.

Browns should move whoever they can at the tradevd
They

Will be drafting in the top 5 and be in the market for a quarterback
Cleveland made their bed

The smart move would be to go to Winston but they foolishly restructured Watson's contract putting a ridiculous amount of dead money into next year. They can't get rid of Watson until the end of next season. That has to be the worst trade in NFL history when you factor in the draft compensation and contract given to Watson.

Yep, but they’re still stuck with Watson. That cap is atrocious. At least we can get out of DJ’s deal in the off-season.

Serves them right for giving that ridiculous contract to such an odious person.

They will rot in cap hell for a decade. God bless.
Watson has been getting killed...
bw in dc : 9/29/2024 6:50 pm : link
and the INT was 100% on Cooper not Watson.

And now this killer holding penalty. Man, that was a bush league call...
so you're saying

He's a good coach, he won't be unemployed very long. I wonder if he wants a change of scenery as well to get away from Watson.

100%. Getting that team to the playoffs last year with AARP QB Flacco, PJ Walker, Thompson-Robinson, etc was masterful.

I forgot they had 11 wins...
watson had 2 guys open for tds but pumps and gets sacked

his implosion post-trade is one of the crazier things i can remember. it's like the haynesworth signing, except a lot more money and 3 first round picks.
His clock management at the end

Leaved a lot to be desired.

The missed extra point was huge. And that 90-yard TD to Cooper that was called back was a pretty bad, IMV.

They are just snake bitten right now. The football gods are done with Watson.

They have restructured his a bit, too. They can't get out of it for a couple of seasons now. Or maybe they will and eat a $50M cap hit.

How can they draft a QB w that contract? They definitely should move on but are t they stuck w him for 2-3 more years? One of the worst moves ever. Especially w. Baker playing well. Gotta think Jacksonville Miami and maybe even Carolina are looking as well despite 3 almost as bad contracts if the Browns are what logic. And even if those teams aren't they might also be in the top 5 and willing to trade.

They're at the point where they need to eat it.
He's not the same qb
HomerJones45 : 9/30/2024 9:00 am : link
as he was when he put 5300 yards and 37 td's in Houston as a 25 year old the year prior to the trade. That shoulder injury and surgery affected his throwing, and he doesn't run much any more.

Everyone is killing Cleveland for the trade, but they thought they were getting a 25 year old qb who had put up 13,000 yards and 82 td's passing and another 15 td's and 1400 yards rushing in the 3 seasons prior to the trade and locking him in at 46 million a year which would be a bargain right now if he had that kind of production. It didn't work out.

Stefanski is going to get canned and deservedly so. This is his 5th season and in only 1 season did they score more points than they allowed. He couldn't get along with Mayfield, who is making him look like a chump right now, which led to the trade in the first place.
