It’s amazing how fast a rookie QB can turn everything around
2023: HOU
2023: WAS
|
I’d add the Bengals and Bills in there too. We always hear this team “isn’t a QB away” but the reality is every team is a QB away.
Get the QB, you fix the decade of misery.
Quote:
there are 8 teams with 3+ wins
4 of them drafted their QB in the first round
4 of them are by retread QBs with three of them being on their 3rd or more team.
The science of finding a QB is pretty damn difficult.
It's not a science. It's an art.
Well many franchises need more painters because the NFL as a whole struggles with finding the guy.
The misses are now severely outweighing the hits.

Serious question - would you feel this way if his last name wasn't Manning?
I would think so. Maybe not as hyped. But he has some impressive tools.
And between now and 2026, or 2027?
Daniels is 1 out of 6 this year (you can say 1 out of 4 or 5 if you want to remove JJ and Penix because of their circumstances)
Stroud was 1 of 3 last year.
I'm all about getting the QB. But we need reasonable expectations, especially with how much ownership loves firing coaches.
Buffalo
Baltimore
Cincy
Texans
Chiefs
Chargers (a maybe?? - weird situation)
Dallas
Wash (so far - really early)
SF (very rare and extremely lucky)
So 9/32. 7 being first rounders.
I didn’t include some rookies because they need some time to develop like Nix, Penix, Maye, Williams.

He's got 83 career pass attempts and hasn't played in a single high-profile game yet.
At best, people might take notice next week if he starts and plays well against Oklahoma. But because he's a Manning we've got people drooling at the prospect of drafting him in 2-3 years.

Agreed. But truth be told. I am not sure scouts even care a lot about big game environments. It’s all about tools.
Why has NYG been bad for most of a decade? Subpar QB play.
So boring. Tell us something we don’t know.
Why has NYG been bad for most of a decade? Subpar QB play.
What about the Steelers then? Who has been their above subpar QB for most of the last decade? I would say their track run has been pretty good of over .500 ball and making the playoffs
Also, you tend to see a lot of QBs cool down in year 2 once everyone gets to dissect them.

Why should the pedigree be ignored?

Right? His grandfather was an NFL QB. Both his uncles were HOF level QBs. He has been living it his whole life, getting advice from the best. And he has the talent. Great arm, size, and athleticism that neither of his uncle's had. On his 67 yard TD run, he hit a speed that Tyreke Hill had not hit in a game that year to that point.
The last name gets him attention, but it's an asset as well. Add to that, it could be argued with the extra attention since high school, comes added pressue. And he has done nothing but live up to the hype and more.
I'd run to select him if the Giants had the chance. I'm not waiting until he's available to select a QB, as that's a fool's game.
Lawrence never "hit." Herbert is banged up and practically playing on one leg.
No issue at at drafting a Qb next year. None. The Giants Desperately need a NFL level QB. But the insinuation you can only turn things around w a top 5 QB is moronic.
This site is full of the type of thinking. Kyler Murray and Josh Rosen really turned the Cards around. Darnold and Wilson?
The Giants reached on Jones so to base. Thinking may take you the next DJ. I hesitate to call people stupid but man histories full of some people whose logic got us into the DJ fix.
The same morons have insisted we had to have ice as is minded coaches. We've had 3 out of 4 who sucked ass.
The insuation that a top drafted Qb assures a team of a turn around is stupid. Mitch Trubisky really helped Chicago
The Giants need to draft a QB in 2025 who is a dynamic player maker. A QB who can beat teams with off schedule plays and runs plus throw the ball with elite velocity.
We have once again, before October 1st, reached the point of the season where the smart Giants fans root for them to not win another game this year and the Mara apologists call us bad fans.
As I've said before I can't bring myself to root against the Giants during games but I know the best and fastest way for this 2012 - today bad football nightmare to end is to get a very high draft pick and pick the right QB.
If a 2-15 season costs Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll their jobs they deserve it. They had 3 years to move on from Daniel Jones and they chose not to.

We all obsess over rosters and third round selections. It's all noise. Place Jayden Daniels on this team and they are 3-1 and no one is hyper analyzing the QB.

The Steelers have other elements that mitigate not having a very good QB, but I imagine they still wish they had one in order to advance even further into the playoffs.

It doesn't have to be ignored.
But I didn't think his performances against Louisiana Monroe, Texas at San Antonio and Miss State were so compelling to move him to the front of the line so quickly.

You had Cam Ward performances against schlep schools as reasons why he should be in the mix for the top QB IIRC.

Who says drafting a qb will “assure a team of a turn around”? The caveat “if you hit” is in the title itself.
People have argued that because “we are not a QB away” we shouldn’t be drafting a QB early and should instead focus on building up the team. But as the Bengals, Bills, and Texans show, you don’t have to do it in that order.

I keep seeing these sentiments. Giants have no shot to get Arch so stop talking about it. You can’t even mention the guys name without someone blasting out of the woodworks.
Based on what?
The Giants have been one of the worst teams in the league for 12 straight years. They are 1-3 again. If you took early polls on who may have the #1 pick in 26, you don’t think the Giants are on the short list? At least mentionable? Add in the fact he will probably be able to dictate where he goes in an unprecedented fashion. Nobody knows jack. So forgive me if I dare entertain the idea. Somebody’s going to get him. Hope it’s the Giants.

I did? Is that when he played for Incarnate Word?
Because when he started to get on the radar, he was at Wazu playing Oregon, Washington, USC, Oregon State, etc.

And was so bad against some of them - he had to come back and transfer.
He struggled last week.
Too bad he can’t play the vaunted Florida defense every week.
It’s GM, coach, QB.

Unfortunately for the Steelers and teams like Buffalo, the fans want more than a playoff berth.
Why because I am not impressed of him dominating 3 shitty defense?
I am surepirsed you can come up with an original, yet for uneducated one, without checking in with Terps for approval.
What position did you choose this week? from behind?

You're trying to criticize people for lack of originality? LOL.
Again - did Terps give you the seal of approval to post this? Asking for a friend…
That's exactly what I mean when I scoff at your originality. It's like the only insult you have for me.
Now go ahead and say something "clever" about me being in Terps' ass or something

If it ain’t broke, why fix it?
I would make fun of your actual football acumen - but you literally reiterate everything your idol says. Can you tell me when his bobblehead came out?
Once again - if it ain’t broke - why fix it?
We've had 4 head coaches & staffs since 2012.
Quote:
We are also ignoring is the new coaching staffs brought in both Washington and Houston last year.

Basically besides Jones, the only constants since 2019/20 are really just Dex and Thomas.
And those two make All Pro teams.

2 of them also made the playoffs their first year's. That wasn't my point though. It's simple to say it's just a QB turning a team around when there are multiple other large changes going on in an organization.

Someone else mentioned it here, I forget who. Would you believe NYG won a Super Bowl and playoff game more recently than the Steelers?
But, yeah - they are well coached and hover around 8-9 wins yearly. Not doing anything more though.

Most of it is the QB.

What QB/Cosch combo would you like next year?
I am intrigued by Milroe/Slowick

It bothers me that I occupy this much space in this mouth breather's head. Where is gidie to threaten him with expulsion?
