Joe Schoen's Remaking of Giants Safety Unit

While there are various opinions on BBI, I'm with those who feel Joe Schoen has done a pretty good job undertaking a total re-make of our Safety unit, letting Xavier McDaniel and Julian Love walk while devoting fewer dollars to players such as Jason Pinnock, Tyler Nubin and Dane Belton. The cupboard is hardly bare, but the one thing that has me hesitating a bit is the lack of interceptions by the Giants who are toward the bottom of the NFL with just 1.

It's not entirely fair to point out that McDaniel has 4 INTs and Julian Love has 1 INT, but I'm waiting for one of our safeties to step up -- perhaps Tyler Nubin -- as a ball-hawk. It is such a critical component of a good defense. It can change the complexion of a game in a blink. This is a Joe Schoen move that has paid off on the Cap side of things, but we need to see the real dividends out on the ballfield.

bread n butter at MIN.

There was a frustrating play before DALs 1st TD where the ball popped high in the air, right in the middle of the field. I still don’t get how nobody was there for the INT on a condensed field. Huge missed opportunity.

It's a tough position with a lot of responsibilities. I liked love and X, then X and Pinnock. looked like safety was developing into a strength on D.

Alot to like about Nubin, hoping he hits his ceiling. Pinnock is a FA after this year, so curious what happens there.

First off the Giants offered Love MORE MONEY, than he originally signed with in Seattle. The offered him 7 million a year. He wanted TEN MILLION a year.. Giants said no.. we cant do that.. but see what you can get and get back to us..

He did.. NO ONE gave him ten... when he came back Giants had already spent their money...

He signed for SIX MILLION.. He overplayed his hand..

McKinney is getting SEVENTEEN MILLION a year...

Ruynan is getting Ten Million. Elumenor is getting 7 million..

Would you rather have Two Starting OL or a safety..

ALSO please stop saying..

" Let a guy walk ". They are FREE AGENTS.. they arent under contract.. there is nothing you can do to MAKE a guy stayor take an offer.. period..

I was a free agent... being available after another company shut down.. In my industry and area I am pretty well known and respected..

I had another company offer me MORE money that I am making now.. That company wanted to hire me.. I had a contract in hand.. I took another job..

My job current job is 10-15 minutes from home. very flexible schedule.. Zero issues if I need to adjust my schedule, close to home... more time to spend with my family..

There was NOTHING that other job could to to MAKE me take their offer. I WANTED where I am now.. because my family is more important than money.

You cant MAKE anyone go anywhere they dont want to go.. and you cant MAKE anyone stay where they dont want to stay.

Players CHOOSE to leave... which is their prerogative.

McKinney did a lot of things well but he wasn’t a difference maker

Worth $17 million or even $14 million. He did nothing special.

Love was squeezed out by the likelihood that they would need that money for McKinney the next season.
