Giants very young

Phils2008 : 9/30/2024 12:00 pm
We have the second youngest team in the NFL. We have to hope these kids are going to learn how to win. Making that jump, always takes some time, but if Dabol doesn't start opening it up and using all our weapons (TEs?) and not just Malik, we wont get there. This is the year to grow and just play backyard football. This roster is getting better. Yes, blah blah blah, Daniel Jones. Its a team sport. Jones missed two throws and he’s crucified. The rest of the team needs to catch, tackle and block while stopping the stupid penalties. I still sense we’re moving in a good direction. Did anyone think we were winning a SB this year???????

No

Nobody thought we were winning a Superbowl because we don't have a viable NFL QB.

Stop this 'blame everyone but Daniel Jones' BS.

How long will it take some people to admit that Jones is the problem?
I thought we were middle of the pack in age.

the age diffence between most

most of the league is an irrelevant number.

especially when you look and see the Packers, Eagles, and other winning teams (last year) squarely in the top 10 youngest teams.
Keep repeating the age thing until the Giants finally make it to

The second round of the playoffs and get eliminated. Then you can say “the team has aged and a rebuild is needed.”

1.) Need an OL who can block - check
2.) Need #1 WR target - check
3.) Now need 100% success rates on every play, because every drive needs 15+ plays to drive the field - new goal post.
Moving in the right direction

Sure, in another 6 or 7 years we may be there (sarcasm off now).
I wanted Jones to be successful as much as anyone
Andrew in Austin : 9/30/2024 1:23 pm : link
but we have seen some of his best football in years and it is yielding fairly mediocre results. I still maintain we are seeing an "inverse-Jones".

He is actually doing well short to medium and sucking on the long ball. He is navigating the pocket well; I think he even hit a 3rd read last game. However, his repeated neck injuries might have really damaged his capabilities to send it accurately down the field.
Most teams in the nfl are young but the better ones win

It is up to the gm to get players and then the HC to coach them up.

I am underwhelmed in both regards.

If Parcells was coaching this team we would be 3-1 with the same talent.
Iagree on one point

And that is we should be playing a little looser and letting that ball go. Spread it around. Every look doesn't have to be perfect. If Jones throws some interceptions than so be it. At least it will be interesting. I disagree that Jones threw two bad passes. Many of his passes are too high or not far enough inside or behind the receivers. He is not putting the ball in a place where these guys can make YAC.

Problem is the most important position is filled by a no talent player picked by the previous regime.

And the owner treats him like a son.

Parcells, sure with Simms maybe.
The Eagles and Packers are younger

The 5 youngest teams are: NYG, Philadelphia, GB, KC, and Tampa. The other 4 are good. We are not.
You’re missing the point

When you need 8 plays to get to midfield, the margin for error is very small. A penalty, a drop, anything will be enough to keep you out if the end zone. That’s the game Jones is playing. So if he misses two throws a game, that may be all it takes. Which is exactly what’s happened in half our games this year.

The Eagles are 3-10 in their last 13 games. May want to pump the brakes on calling them good.

100%. This offense has no room for error on any drive. That is not sustainable to win games.

Points come from chunk plays. We need someone to break 2-3 tackles on their own to get a chunk play. This is how you play when your starter is injured and you need your backup to manage the game and keep the ball away from the other team.
