Once the Giants are eliminated from the playoffs, the organization will find itself in the following situation:
Continue to play him and risk triggering the monumentally stupid injury clause for absolutely no reason other than to have "moral" victories for a QB that will NOT be here next year. "But DJ gives them the best chance to win!" And??? Not only does that hurt the team financially, any wins at that point will serve no purpose other than to ruin their draft standing and negatively impact their ability to bring in a top level QB prospect. Same outcome as last year, meaningless wins that took us out of reach of the top 3 QB's (Think the Giants might wish they had Jayden Daniels instead of a bunch of useless wins last year?)
OR...they get eliminated, they bench Jones ensuring the injury clause can't be triggered, save themselves millions, and put in a backup that allows them to "tank" without actually tanking, and actually do something intelligent for the future of the franchise.
What am I missing aside from irrelevant emotional/sentimental arguments?

Further, last year alone showed he doesn’t give us the best chance to win because the backups did better and had more wins.
2 - John Mara values meaningless late season wins
3 - John Mara fires coaches every 2 years
4 - The difference between Schoen and Daboll keeping their jobs and getting fired might come down to beating a team like the Colts in a matchup of 6-10 teams
5 - Daniel Jones, playing the way he has been playing, (arguably) gives the Giants the best chance to win among their QBs.
Further, last year alone showed he doesn’t give us the best chance to win because the backups did better and had more wins.
The Giants were 5-6 last year without him which was way better than with him

is it isn’t true. We barely score touchdowns when he plays and if the team does win, it typically feels like a defensive win.

Yet another hard truth
Even if you don't think so, they do. And Jones is playing better this year than he did last year. The consensus among normal people is that he is a solid backup QB. He's not a guy they pulled out of the stands. Plus he's been in the system, gotten tons of reps - it's not crazy to say that he gives you a better chance than another backup and a practice squad guy.
For two reasons:
1) I think Mara is too decent to tolerate benching Jones merely to avoid triggering the injury clause, good business be damned, and
2) I don't think he'd approve of tanking either. I think he'd rather the season play out organically and then have enough information to base a decision on whether to fire Schoen and/or Daboll. If they organizationally decide to tank, I think it would nearly be a committment to retaining them both.

We are 1 and 3. As I’ve stated how much worst can we be with our backup’s. 0 & 4…really

I get that, but they also lose a lot of games, make questionable decisions, and there's plenty of cloudyness surrounding whether they could make a change even if they didn't, so the benefit of the doubt has been rightfully decreased. It's earned doubt. You can't average 15ppg while successfully improving the talent situation as you had the stated aim to.

You could crawl over that bar, as low as it was set.
If he doesnt bench him when they get knocked out then the Owner is twice as much as the idiot that we might think.
To all those crying about that..what is the point?
DJ is not good, NYG didn't choose between these two guys
Whining about Devito winning 3 is just stupid as well. They will always try to win every game.
I dont buy it. I dont think even you believe that this offense is getting the best results it could get.

Mara is a businessman, but as we've seen before, he doesn't operate as a good one.
There's no way Mara would bench Jones for any reason other than performance, and certainly not b/c of the injury clause.
I mean, he's playing now. There are some teams that would've made him the 3rd string QB for the season and made Lock the starter.

I agree. I mean, if you were going to tank, what better way than starting a local UDFA rookie QB?
Credit to DeVito for making the most of his 15 minutes.

Unless they get that clause pulled, or not enforecable for 2024. It's a business decision. It seems some posters think it's some moral point. It isn't. It's sound buisness. Mara is a business man. He's not going to be that stupid. He makes stupid football decisions but I doubt he'll be this stupid in order to make a logical business decision.

Of course he will. And he is pretty good business man. Giants Stadium fills up, doesn’t it? His product sucks yet he still sells out. He’s kept his product as shitty as it is alive enough that you and I and many others are still following.
Just because he is not that great at it doesn't mean he doesn't give a shit about it.
And what's the relevance of your point that he is "playing now?" He's playing now because they think he is the best QB in which they are still in the playoff hunt (whether we as fans agree or not about playoffs).
Put it this way, if the Giants get eliminated and they don't wind up benching jones, then we have a lot more to fear looking forward to the future because it would show that Mara is below being even thought of as a moron.
guys like Mara also love money. He's not this stupid. I’d say very very low chance, I'll throw out a number less than 5% chance, that they keep Jones in once they are out.
They are going to miss their Goal of the Playoffs. Mara is gonna hear a lotta shit and he reacts to it. They are going to see what they have in other players including QB.
