Yanks did much better against KC this year than Baltimore. Also be great to see Houston dispatched in the first round.
Be careful what you wish for. Ragans and Lugo shut Yanks down this year and Singer gave them trouble too. KC has very good pitching
KC had the second worst team batting average in September. 12-18 over the last 30 and in the bottom half of the league against teams with a better than .500 record. The Orioles have played us tough all year.
given to Hader for the one last Astros run ended up backfiring in the most direct way ever.
He literally lost the game for them.
Despite his numbers looking good this year, he was up and down at times, including getting blown up at the start of the year to put them in a hole. Good.
Baltimore relied on the HR all year, only the Yanks hit more or had a higher percentage of runs scored via the HR. That worries me. Good pitching usually beats good hitting, but partly when it's all or nothing hitting. I do like their chances, but KC is no pushover IMHO
that local play-by-play guys don’t work the postseason for their teams. Always about him.
Why wouldn’t he? It’s the same in basketball. I think it’s bullshit these guys do all the games all season long then don’t get to do the playoffs and WS. And Breen and Clyde should be doing the Knicks postseason games. Have a national feed but allow the local teams on the local feeds to work as well for those that prefer it
Any team starting Frankie Montas in game 2, which is an elimination game has no business being in the playoffs. I cannot believe this is the guy the Brewers decided was their best option to keep their season going
RE: Balt scored one run in 18 innings and it was a HR.

Cole Ragans has top 10 stuff among all SP in baseball. He is liable to get hit from time to time, though, and hopefully the Yankees won't be stubborn enough to hit their shit righties like Trevino against him.

He wasn't whining. He was explaining why the HOU announcers weren't doing the game and they were. And you're telling me you wouldn't be disappointed that you did a job for 162 games and then were not allowed to do the playoffs?

Exactly. But it’s “cool” to hate on Michael Kay so he must be whining. Local broadcasters have been “whining” about this forever. And I agree with them that it’s bullshit
Most local announcers are homers and annoying as shit
For the playoffs you generally want a more neutral booth, so it makes sense to me.
You’re not getting it. Nobody is saying get rid of the national broadcast. Of course that is going to happen. But the local teams should still be doing them on the local feed, imo. Mets should be on SNY and Yankees on YES, as well as the national feed.

I believe college basketball or football offers the home team broadcast.

nor was I trying to be “cool” by being critical of him - he brought it up the other day on YES with O’Neill, then on his radio show, and today during a playoff game. I think we get the point. Go replace Sterling in the radio booth and you can call all the Yankee playoff games til kingdom come.
Anyway, Padres up 5-1 on the Braves, Mets/Brewers in a tight one.

AMAZING
I am very happy right now.
Best case would have been us beating them. But second best case is getting embarrassingly swept at home by the Tigers.
I agree with him. let the local guys who know how to make the calls announce the game. They know the players and have the energy.
He literally lost the game for them.

Seems redundant come playoff time.
Anyway, Padres up 5-1 on the Braves, Mets/Brewers in a tight one.
Hope Cole, Soto and Judge are ready to dominate.
Now let's get the Mets vs the Phillies.
Time to take care of business. I'm tentatively going to KC for at least 1 of the games.
Not if they don't hit, which is the biggest concern I have.
He's had a good year, and he's pitched plenty in meaningful games. But it's Michael F'ing Wacha, Yankees need to hit him.
And Cole better not let up more than like 2 runs. Time to win that championship he keeps talking about.
capone humbly invite you over to the wildcard game thread Optimus set up.
LFGM!
