Haha, I digress. But Sy did a great job here. I would have Ward as #1 or #2 over Shedeur and Ewers, but Sy's reasoning is very sound.
Milroe has a 50% completion of 20+ yards. That's bonkers. Even with Hollywood Williams, that's so impressive that he completes one of every two long-ball passes. Pretty much unheard of for DJ.

A recent post showed how Mahomes was leading the NFL in 20+ yd completions at a rate of 57%, which is amazing. Milroe is obviously playing in a very different context but still impressive.
I have optimism that the Giants should be able to finally get our shiny new franchise qb in the 2025 draft. Right now my choice is Milroe but any of the top five quarterbacks would be a huge upgrade of what we have.
I agree with Sy. Milroe is a unicorn, will win the Heisman and will be the first overall pick in 2025. I also like Ward and Ewers, but Ewers injury history like Penix last year is a concern. I like Sanders but can't see Mara taking him. Beck looked brutal in the first half of the Alabama game last week. Very poor decision making, slow to process and inaccurate. He clearly had a great second half, but that was against more of a prevent defense. Reminded exactly of DJ and his Arizona game last year.
Is Ward. ACC sucks ass as a conf. Miami would lose 3-5 games the ACC. And I would have chosen Daniels and Maye over him 10 out of 10 times. Maybe Ward is a great pro but if the Giants get a choice of the top 2 guys or 3 no thanks. I fully expect Miami to get destroyed in the playoffs by any of the top SEC or B1G teams and him to turn the ball over a lot in the NFL

You present several criticisms of the team. What about Cam's play?
a few weeks ago, but Kurtis Rourke needs to start getting into some of these conversations. Kid is 6'5", 230+, athletic and has some mobility. And he's quietly having a great year at Indiana.
He's an older prospect, but maybe another late bloomer.
He seems like a tools rich guy but they don't like him passing a lot.
Penn State is hosting UCLA at noon today on Fox.
Allar has a lot of tools, but at times it looks like he has the yips in the pocket and just can't pull the trigger. It's agonizing. And while he is getting better, he will lock onto his first read for a long time...
agree with the perception on the draft class, which I've held since last year. Deep QB draft though lacking in a sure-fire top guy. Flies in the face of those advocating for trading Nabers to move up. Just doesn't compute. Giants should have a high enough pick that they should be able to stand pat (or trade some picks) and get their guy. Their favorite QBs could easily differ from some other teams this year.

CFL desperately needs more Canadian QBs.
Chad Kelly is playing on a 'last chance' clause after a half-season suspension and mandatory counselling for sexual harassment.
He won MOP last year.
Is just 20 which allows him to stay in school more, but these upcoming games will be significant for him and his future prospects.
That is a big positive for sure. He won't turn 21 until next March.
I've said it numerous times on the board. The best thing for Allar - unless he really has the light go on the next two months - is to transfer to a school with a coaching staff that runs a pro/modern game offense and can further develop his game.
ESPN polled 20 NFL scouts and executives who evaluate college players to see where they stood right now on the top quarterback for the 2025 NFL Draft. The variance of answers proved telling, as Colorado's Shedeur Sanders got nine votes, Georgia's Carson Beck got five and Alabama's Jalen Milroe got four. Both Miami's Cam Ward and Texas' Quinn Ewers got one vote, with Ward rising in the NFL and Ewers' standing likely hurt after missing the last two weeks with an injury. Link - ( New Window )
he's got a quick release, he seems to process really well, and he's got a good arm. What I don't like is his size, and his movement on the pocket makes me wonder if that's sustainable in the NFL. There's a lot of Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray there.

I feel like Milroe will ultimately be QB1.
Not sold on Allar yet. He has tools but performance doesn't match tools. Besides, when was the last time PSU developed a great QB? Best in the last 20 years may have been Collins.

He's not perfect, but he is 6'2" 225lbs. That's a solid build. I know some like their QBs even taller 6'2" is enough to see the field and there have been some great ones at that height.
Like Ewers, Milroe, and Ward, but I would take any of those top 5
I'm very dialed into the CU program as an alum/donor so I know what is bluster relative to what the reality is in Boulder.
The reality is that Shedeur is incredibly talented with a temperament that will ultimately lead fans/coaches/analysts to conclude, "this is why he was one of the greats," or, "this is why he busted." Simply put, there's a Brady or Rodgers element here and it's by design because he trains with TB12 in the offseason and models his game off of the GOAT.
To this point, Shedeur won't be starstruck or require an introductory period upon entering the NFL as he's grown up understanding the commitment necessary for success at that level and he demands it from his teammates at the collegiate level. Obviously that rubs some the wrong way, but similarly to Brady, his view is that the real enjoyment is winning as opposed to lallygagging.
The processing, smoothness, arm talent, improvisation, and mobility do remind me of vintage Rodgers. There's a "controlled chaos" angle to his game in which he can exercise patience to such a degree that it causes complete disorder in everything, and everyone, around him but his poise allows him to use this to his advantage. I'd argue that this is his "super power."
As mentioned, the intangibles either make or break Shedeur. He's going to be well liked by his teammates given his swag, and he is a leader of men, it's simply a matter of how he responds to coaching if and when he encounters adversity.
Last season at CU he more or less demanded a change at OC because he was getting killed in the quick tempo RPO scheme. They promoted Pat Shurmur whom Shedeur respected given his NFL credentials. Shurmur installed a more pro-style offense and had hopes to establish a running game, however, its been strongly suggested that Shedeur was audibling out of nearly every run play called because he felt he could hit bigger plays in the pass game. Basically, he wanted to play hero ball.
This in turn created an incredibly unbalanced offense which allowed for the defense to pin their ears back and unrelentlessly sell out for the pass rush. This makes Shedeur appear as if he's playing behind the world line in football but in reality, he caused the mess. Shedeur more or less schemed his team into being one dimensional and put the OL in an untenable position. That has changed over the past couple of games after outside voices and coaches made this a point of emphasis but it merits monitoring.
Finally, I saw someone around these parts mention that Shedeur is a product of Travis Hunter's excellence. I think that's hogwash. Hunter is the best talent to ever play in Boulder but Shedeur has turned lower division talent into big play receivers while spreading the ball out incredibly well. I'd wager that 6+ receivers have posted 100 yard games across the past couple of seasons.
Gun to my head, I'd take Shedeur with the top overall pick but I admit I'm biased. My thesis is that he has upper echelon physical skills, elite processing abilities, and the mental fortitude necessary to excel at a high level. There's not much uncertainty to "project" within his game relative to some others. However, I acknowledge that this degree of fortitude could also become his undoing without the proper structure
Not only in game performance, but in interviews. Last year Jayden Daniels quickly became the guy I hoped we'd have a chance to take, and now it's Milroe whose name will cause heartbreak when another team takes him.

Cam Ward is 6'2 225. He's considerably bigger than both Russ & Kyler.

I didn’t even realize he was 6’2. He plays like he’s under 6’0, the way he back peddles so often.
As a Penn stater, Allar hs been yet another disappointing five star qb, but he's the best of the few we had (hack and morelli being the others). He has the tools and doesn't make mistakes, but he just isn't a dynamic player. I wouldn't draft him before the third round and even then it's just based on potential.

I love the line “controlled chaos”, this is what I like about sanders too. I hope he’s a giant next year, I’m not scared at all about d eions voice here.
Has given up 400+ yards. They have given up 12 for 18 in third down conversions. And they have been on the field for 40+ minutes because they can't stop the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Let me slow this down for you.
Alabama's D has given up 33 points to Vanderbilt. Just think about that.
Yes, Milroe's mistakes are problematic, but the Bama D is the disaster piece of this game.
Let me slow it down for you. I'm not a fucking retard, so don't talk to me like I'm one. But you are without a doubt an asshole specifically when it related to your opinions. For some reason you have a hard on for this guy and you act like he's the second coming of jesus christ. He's a great prospect, with a really high ceailing, but he has some very scary flaws with ball security. He did not do his part to win this game. He played ok, but his ball security cost bama the game against a team that has maybe 2-3 pro prospects.

If you want to peg this game on Milroe, fine.
It's an absurd and daft conclusion, but to each their own.
needs to be cleaned up - too much loose one handed contact in traffic
Agree about the ball security. That sack and fumble, coming from the right side was an impactful play that could very much have been the determining factor of the game. He did play a good game, but that play was very crucial.

See Ohio State, USC, Texas, etc.
Ward doing well for 3 programs and improving from the pocket puts him high on my list as well.
I like Ewers moxy and arm talent but the injury history and frame are no bueno.
I like Ward and Milroe for the Giants. You can see them driving the ball outdoors come playoff time.
That being said, are we really one of the bottom two teams? It's takes a lot to be pick #1 or #2.

Milroe took a blindside hit and fumbled at the Vandy 47. It wasn't a scope and score.
So, the Bama defense had a chance - the millionth of the game - to stop Vandy. And Vandy went through them like a knife through hot butter.
