Welcome to this best-of-five National League Division Series thread between the 6th seeded Mets (89-73) & the 2nd seeded N.L. East Champion Phillies (95-67). The Mets beat the Brewers by the hairs on their chinny-chin-chins in the NLWS two days ago
despite losing the season series to them during the regular season. The Phillies, like the Brewers, won the regular season series against the Mets
7 games to 6. The Mets will be looking for some payback against the Phillies the same way they did against the Brewers. Click

Citi Field finally has an identity. They are reaching out to the fans and making it a mets home field, not just a billboard for corporate sponsors.
Are you (or anyone) able to elaborate on this? Wasn't able to get to Citi this field with an under 1 year old at home, so didn't see any changes that took place this season
But, it's the NLCS....you're going to play someone very good.
LGM
Sounds like McNeil will be on the roster for the NLCS.

holding manaea for game 3 was the 1 thing i didnt like about the initially reported schedule so i like this a lot.
excited to see mcneil back in action too, he's never faced Flaherty but id start him over iglesias since he's struggled and hope to catch lightning in bottle. winker looks like he should hit 5th behind alonso.

Hardly comprehensive, but they put the Hall of Fame plaques in the rotunda now. The Seaver statue is not new, was dedicated in 2022, but that went a long way toward changing the mood.
The food and drink options are fantastic, and a lot of them are local brands. I think it's been voted best ballpark food in MLB for two years now.
In the Delta club, it's been dressed up with Mets-centric visuals. There's a David Wright collage in there that kinda reminds me of the neon silhouettes that were on the exterior of Shea.
The team store is like three times what it used to be.
The stadium lightning has been upgraded so you can see the blue and orange LED lights. Everything is more visually 'Mets' overall, which I appreciate.
I don't remember ever having fireworks for Wilpon-era postseason wins, but we had them after clinching the NLDS.
Some people don't like the dance team, but I think it's fun.
The Mets aren't supposed to be the Giants or the Yankees coat and tie aesthetic. There should be a sense of fun around this franchise. They really lean into the Mets culture. Mr. Met is all over the pace. And of course, Cohen has done a fantastic job bringing back former players and allowing them to be part of it. That didn't happen with the last owners. They were almost ashamed of the 86 team.
There are not enough bad words in the English language to describe previous ownership and his weasel son. Made me sick seeing him in his suite the other night.
Nice!
Great idea! I want Darryl to throw out the first pitch for Game 3 at Citi Field.

all around bad combination. it's a miracle citi turned out the way it did.

Jeff is a villain and disgusting piece of mierda. Did they actually show him on TV???

I saw Fred. Not sure if jeff was there. Unfortunately they still do own a part of the team.
@Alden_Gonzalez
Here's how it could go for the Dodgers in the NLCS ...
G1: Jack Flaherty
G2: Walker Buehler
G3: bullpen
G4: Yoshinobu Yamamoto
G5: Flaherty
G6: Buehler
G7: bullpen
Yamamoto was expected to remain on five days' rest, but Flaherty can come back for Game 5 if he's on normal rest.

Ken Guthrie, the Orioles scout who helped sign Jackson Holliday, Heston Kjerstad and Creed Willems, has departed the organization for a position with the Mets, two sources said
Nice!
DMM knows more than me, but I could have scouted Jackson Holliday. He was the #1 overall pick and likely would have been for whoever had the #1 pick. Kjerstad has been a disappointment IMO, after being a highly ranked prospect. Had a mid rookie season at 25, is 26 before next spring training.
Creed Willems could pan out, and I don't know a ton about him, but his profile seems also mid.
hope it works out and this scout is lights out with the Mets but I'm not impressed by that track record that was shared for those 3 players specifically.
NOBODY had anything close to a good thing to say about jeff including all of those same people that deeply respected Fred. if it werent for jeff einhorn would have owned the team a decade ago and we may have been out of the madoff tailspin a lot sooner. his own family members leaking against him during the cohen purchase process was not surprising.
the best was when a-rod/j-lo gave him the bs that they'd let him do that as part of their offer. the doubleday quotes re jeff were 100% prophetic.
Fred was the Mets owner that desperately wanted to be the Dodgers owner. And it showed - very publicly. Disgusting owner. Disgusting person.

IDK Fred is the one who made it new stadium and ode to the dodgers and not the team he he owned.

i thought his doubleday doublecross was messed up but I knew some people who knew him a long time and were loyal to him.

And the Jackie Robinson Rotunda (shrine). And his obsession with Sandy Koufax and inviting him to spring training each year.
While ignoring the history of his own team. Despicable.

nobody who knew him for decades was respecting him or not because of decor decisions at citifield. none of us would care about it if they won big either.
from what i know fred is/was a mostly decent guy who made some bad choices. jeff is/was a pos who was almost unanimously loathed. his next good choice may be his first.

I know. 5 percent unfortunately. I hope Cohen can cajole them into selling that portion to him soon too. These cretins also own the majority stake in SNY.
Glad they kept Young. Keeps usage of Peterson fluid.
MLB should expand rosters at this round and world series

a little surprised but it makes sense. there are good reasons both he/young haven't pitched, i expected them to take his experience over young's handedness but neither should matter all that much. neither should get into a game unless something has gone very wrong or very right.

the 2 off days in between the road travel effectively solves that so honestly dont think it matters all that much. you are only running low on the replacement level pen arms if there are 2 blowouts, and in that case your best guys probably arent pitching too much so they are fine for game 3+ and probably pitching no matter what since you are probably down 0-2.
if they had to throw each of young / megill / butto until their arms fell off in games 1 or 2, any players that throw way beyond their norms in a game because of situational need there will be some kind of real strain be it "tricep soreness" or "arm fatigue" or whatever they want to call it. so i think you could IL that player for Otto or Brazoban or Kranick or Luccessi without pulling an eppler.
obviously if they end up in a high BP usage situation due to SP getting actually injured and leaving early, then it would be that player going on the IL and more fresh arms available.
all in all the decision to keep someone like Acuna over an extra RP is a pretty easy one.
pretty remarkable that other than brooks raley, drew smith, christian scott, and nunez the roster appears to be pretty much fully healthy when it matters most.
the position player depth in particular is exceptional. really fully loaded for any situation. they should go into every game with 2 of iglesias (R), mcneil (L), marte (R), winker (L), JDM (R) available off the bench as necessary to hit.
plus 2 of bader, taylor, acuna to pinch run or come in for defensive purposes.
as long as this team keeps grinding good at bats they are going to seriously test any opposing teams pitching depth.

Will do. Thanks Eric! I'll start the thread once the lineups are out and link it here.
