Welcome to this best-of-seven National League Championship Series thread between the 6th seeded Mets (89-73) & the 1st seeded N.L. West Champion Dodgers (98-64).
All games for this series will be covered in this thread. The Dodgers had the best record in all of MLB during the regular season & beat the Mets during the regular season 4 times,
winning the regular season series 4 games to 2. The Mets will be looking for some payback against the Dodgers the same way they did against the Brewers & Phillies, who they also lost their regular season series against. Click

HERE to see the Mets’ 26-man roster for the NLCS. There is one change overall: IF/OF Jeff McNeil for Reliever Adam Ottavino. This will be the 3rd time the Mets and Dodgers have met in the playoffs. They met before in 1988, 2006, and 2015 with the Mets winning in 2006 and 2015. Their most painful playoff series loss ever though was arguably to the Dodgers in 1988. Click

-The Mets' 5-man bench for tonight’s game will consist of
Torrens (R), Martinez (R), Bader (R), Acuña (R), & McNeil (L).
Alvarez will be fine, but he's struggling now. I'd seriously consider giving Torrens the start tomorrow
NLCS strangely feeling less intense than NLDS.
Is it lack of rivalry? Playing with house money? Lower expectations to win? Idk
Well...he was right
Back to back leadoff walks
Double killer
Somehow got out of that mess unscathed
He got screwed on the check swing on that one. I didn't think he went and would have at least been 3-0.
Hes done. But their pen is excellent, so not a plus.
You gotta sign up for 2 runs allowed through 5
Should win every game that we get that. Need the bats to come through

not getting at least 1 when bases were jacked is what I think all bothers us.
Not our night so far
And of course, Ohtani now. Oh well, onto the next game. Maybe the offense will show up.
kike homer was only out in 5/30 ballparks, and mets had a few flyballs that would have been out in a small minority of parks too. dodgers had a lot of good positioning for hard hit balls.
bottom line have to get big hits when guys are on base and make outs when you get the chance. cant give good teams extra outs and cant let struggling pitchers off the hook. yamamoto has reverse splits so im not as sure id put mcneil in as winker. with sloppy defense being an issue im not sure id swap mcneil in for iglesias.
Im with you Eric
One day at a time. Win tomorrow (err..today I guess)
Taylor is far from a black hole, he might not get the hit but he battles, pretty sure he averages 8 pitches per at bat.
JD lost me wit that 3rd at bat and chased that outside changeup.
I expect we see Winker in the lineup tonight, Alvarez gets one more shot....he needs to clean it up man.
However, Winker needs to be in the lineup and I'm officially worried about Nimmo. His ABs seemed unaffected by the injury until last night, but now it seems to be affecting him in the box.
This series has been about our staff issuing walks, shoddy defense and the fact that we've scored runs in only 3 of 27 innings played.
I'm not ready to say anything is over at this point. Come back tonight and even this up. Dodgers are a bully team and don't look nearly as good when they're backed into a corner.
even the whipping boys, JDM had 2 walks yesterday. taylor had 1. iglesias had a hit and 0 k's so he put the ball in play all 4 at bats.
the big hit with men on eluded them, and they had the 3 defensive plays that led to runs. severinos 2 balls he couldnt field cleanly and alvarez bad throw to 2nd. that was the difference through most of the game. the kike 2 out homer only barely got out and in 25 ballparks that's an out.
in a tighter game megill isn't pitching for that 8th inning blowup.
the dodgers are definitely a bully team and the variable with them is their pitching. when they get good pitching and a lead they can ride high. they are mixing up their relievers so much that our hitters are battling but off balance. mets need to get to yamamoto.

Agreed.
And how ironic that the Mets are going to battle Yamamoto at home to keep their season from being pushed to the brink after the FA courtship this past offseason.
