Welcome to this best-of-seven National League Championship Series thread between the 6th seeded Mets (89-73) & the 1st seeded N.L. West Champion Dodgers (98-64).
All games for this series will be covered in this thread. The Dodgers had the best record in all of MLB during the regular season & beat the Mets during the regular season 4 times,
winning the regular season series 4 games to 2. The Mets will be looking for some payback against the Dodgers the same way they did against the Brewers & Phillies, who they also lost their regular season series against. Click

HERE to see the Mets’ 26-man roster for the NLCS. There is one change overall: IF/OF Jeff McNeil for Reliever Adam Ottavino. This will be the 3rd time the Mets and Dodgers have met in the playoffs. They met before in 1988, 2006, and 2015 with the Mets winning in 2006 and 2015. Their most painful playoff series loss ever though was arguably to the Dodgers in 1988. Click

If you're going to dance with the one who brung ya and leave Iglesias and Alvarez in the lineup, I can understand it. Especially with Alvarez being a winning player throughout the season and handling the staff the way he does -- I just wish he would try to hit a single not a 10 run homer!
Lastly, I do not care about Yamamoto's reverse splits enough to run JDM out there again tonight. He has no pop and looks washed. Gotta get Winker some AB's tonight.
Just saw this stat somewhere - in his career buehler has thrown 4 sweepers that moved with more than 20 inches of horizontal break. All 4 were yesterday. I think 2 were to Jdm on that at bat he struck out with full count. If the other guys pitch their best I’m not sure what else you can do but tip the cap. And hope that they can’t all do that in every inning. And that our guys can pitch their best too.
Postseason numbers:
Jdm 4/16, 3 rbis, 4 walks
Winker 4/15, 3 rbis, 4 walks
Phuuuuuq.
Winker needs ot be in the lineup tonight and JDM needs to sit. Alvarez better wake the hell up too.

It would show me the "magic" is still there and they have the bats going.
If they don't win tonight I think its pretty obvious that it's over.

I still believe, but I'd be lying if I said my mind is not starting to overtake my heart in terms of what I think is going to happen when I'm watching these 2 teams. BUT, it's still just 2-1, and this version of the Mets deserves every benefit of the doubt here.
I was telling my uncle earlier that you take in a team like these Mets as you would a pet or a new friend. I'm too young to remember the Mets championship teams so over the course of the last month, these guys have probably given me the greatest stretch and some of the best Mets wins in my lifetime. You add that to how hard it is to get to this point and beyond and you just don't want to see this thing end.
There is something ironic about these Mets facing the high-priced Yamamoto who turned us down in this game tonight. I feel the universe is lining us up for a big night.
Let's hope so and let's go Mets!

Notes:
-Tonight’s game will be televised on FS1 and so will tomorrow's game.
-The weather forecast for tonight's game at Citi Field once again is decent, albeit a good 20 degrees cooler compared to L.A. Wind gusts will reach approximately 30 MPH (a good 10 MPH more than last night), so keep an eye on that. Click HERE to keep updated & see the Hourly AccuWeather Reports from there.
-Robin Venture is throwing out the first pitch tonight to Edgardo Alfonzo. Jose Quintana has yet to win a postseason game in his career, yet owns a 2.43 ERA & 0.944 WHIP over 29 & 2/3 postseason innings. Mookie Betts is 8-for-28 in his career against Quintana, while Freddie Freeman is 5-for-16 with a homer against him. Yamamoto got battered for five runs on five hits in just three innings with only one strikeout in Game 1 of the NLDS against the Padres in what was his first postseason start in MLB. He bounced back in Game 5 of the series though with five shutout innings, earning the win as the Dodgers advanced in that elimination game. The Mets faced Yamamoto once this season. It was at Dodger Stadium on April 19th, jumping on him for four runs (three earned) & seven hits over six innings. Harrison Bader went 3-for-3 with an RBI against him that night. maybe for morale, but I think tomorrow remains the must win.
Although not ideal to go back to LA, we would get to see Buehler and Flaherty again and this time no surprises. I think we would smoke them both.
This lineup is a quick learner and adapts well.

Can't win 0-0
Offense is going to have to win this game no matter what
Will Smith always scares me too

Mets killer
Saw a few sliders that were in the bottom of the zone he called a ball.
Mets hanging by a thread here. Need a rally this inning badly.
Can't miss that mistake.
That's what's changed about this team in last few days. Just not capitalizing in the big moments
All that said...awesome job by Brandon to beat that out.
I’d yank Quintana now.
Loved this team. Everyone had a moment.
Will cherish this run forever.
Thank you Mets.
Perfect recipe for how the Mets are shitting the bed.

I love this attitude. I had little expectation for this season, and the Mets have had a terrific run. I'm not throwing in the towel until the Dodgers get that 27th out in a deciding game, but assuming the Mets don't make a ridiculous rally, 3 wins in a row against this Dodgers team seems like a near impossible task.
I for one wouldn't mind seeing them let Pete go, sadly, put the QO on him, of course. I don't think he has responded well to big moments consistently enough to justify a big contract. Just a .762 OPS with RISP and with men on base it's just .732 OPS.
Not sure I would move Vientos over there at this point. But it's not a great free agent class at 1B, I suppose you could consider Bellinger.
But with Mauricio and Baty as potential options at 3B, maybe just do the damn thing and move Vientos to 1B after all?
Perfect recipe for how the Mets are shitting the bed.
Nibbling too much away and seems afraid to throw strikes inside to this Dodgers lineup.
Uncle Steve, back up the truck for Soto, please.
Don't like the move. Carlos said before the game that Alvy would come through. He should have given him the chance.
But this team lacks a “scary” hitter. You need one to go the distance. Admirable what the Mets have done this season, the Cohen needs to make a splash. And Alonso can take a hike.
I’d save manaea, throw Peterson and empty the pen. Hope the bats bounce back and flaherty just doesn’t have it. Having manaea in game 6 is a sliver of hope you can get to game 7.
