Haven't seen this out there: The Giants had DL Armon Watts in for a workout yesterday, per source. Sixth-year veteran signed with the Patriots in the offseason but was placed on IR during training camp. He recently got an injury settlement from the Patriots, so Giants likely checking on his health.

14: Armon Watts – Arkansas – 6’5/300

Grade: 72

Summary: After a really quiet career leading up to 2018, Watts broke out and led the Razorbacks with 7 sacks and 3 forced fumbles. He is still a bit of an unknown but its hard not to be drawn to him when re-watching his tape. He has a lot going for him when it comes to size and power. There are some red flags from earlier in his career when it comes to attitude and effort, but this kid took a turn this past yea off and on the field. Someone may be getting a huge bargain on day 3.

*Big, mean, physical and quietly very skilled. Watts has the look of a kid that enters training camp and starts tossing veterans around and wrecking havoc. Where he was for the first three years is a little unknown besides the fact that he didn’t work hard, but something seems to have changed and 2018 was a glimpse of what this kid might be in the NFL.

Kicking the tires at a position of need. Started some games for Min and Chi a few years ago.

We need that type of presence at DT again. Watts had his best years in Minnesota under Andre Patterson. A lot of NE fans thought he was a good under-the-radar signing this year but injuries hit and he was let go. The Giants have done a decent job of finding guys who have been let go for various reasons. This team is strong at the front 7 but as Sy said, we are a little thin after Dexter at DT. Davidson has his good moments but they are few and Nacho seems to be a JAG right now. I like Chapman, he hustles and is a nice story but he is a rotational guy at best. He could develop but....who knows?

I'll take a poor man's A'Shawn right now if he is healthy and Patterson wants him.
