Would you trade for Andy Dalton?

CMicks3110 : 1:47 pm
NFC east is still winnable. But not with Jones. Dalton probably wouldn’t cost that much. Maybe a 4th and maybe we bring him back next year.

I never liked Drew Lock, I thought he looked awful in preseason. If we want to pint the season, sure, stick it out with him or Jones. But fairly certain with Nabers and the emergence of Tracy. We would be 4-2 and not 2-4 with Dalton.
To win a few more games

And continue in QB purgatory.

He would be a huge upgrade, but absolutely not

This franchise needs to stop doing everything it can to scratch and claw to 7-8 win seasons. Every bit of resources and planning needs to go into 2025 and beyond. 2024 is dead

can’t imagine being buyers for anything at this point especially with the injuries hitting.

The time to do that was before the season

It would have made sense then to add Dalton, Flacco, Wilson, or another vet that could at least be trusted to operate the offense.

Now? Let's all enjoy Daniel Jones.

We are going to arrange for DJ to handle your eulegy at the funeral.
Dalton makes a ton of sense

In the offseason as bridge to a rookie QB. He’s a free agent and I would not mind having him here until the new QB is ready.

That would be a very bland, predictable eulogy.
The ‘25 QB class just has bust written all over it to me
CMicks3110 : 2:04 pm : link
I’m not a big fan of any of the prospects. I might consider a building up our defense and letting a vet QB handle the offense and go all in for QB in ‘26.
A better question would be Stafford
Sean : 2:05 pm : link
Not sure of the cap implications, but he could be in the mix for 2025 QB if the Rams make him available.

I'd be more interested in Bryce Young from Carolina.

But he'd work really hard on it. Be up early studying GTs life, going to bed late after rehearsing it all night

Would he deliver it at the right funeral?

It will definitely be short delivery...

I wouldn’t do it…..let’s continue to go with Jones
Simms11 : 3:18 pm : link
let him play out the contract this year and then draft a guy. We should bring in a vet however that can mentor the new guy and take the reins for a while. Perhaps a guy like Dalton or Flacco as a bridge guy next off-season.
Yes of course
pjcas18 : 3:20 pm : link
but only if Dalton first agreed to a long-term 9 figure contract extension.

I see Dalton play and know his history and I feel nothing but confidence that is the guy to take this team to the promised land, and no cost to make that happen is too high.

This.

However, I'm not against bringing him or someone similar as a vet to bridge post-Jones and draft a rookie a la 2004
Why not think
Photoguy : 3:22 pm : link
outside the box? Trade for an established starter.
Andy Dalton?
Section331 : 3:30 pm : link
Seriously?? He's no better than Jones at this point. A whopping 900 yards in 4 games, 6.2 YPA. The OP should realize that he doesn't need to post every stray thought that runs through his head.
The stuff people post on here
Costy16 : 3:48 pm : link
He was awful against the Bears and very mediocre last week against the Falcons. The one game feel-good train after the Panthers beat the Raiders Week 3 is over. A 36 year old QB does nothing to the Giants situation
Absolutely NOT.
Matt M. : 3:56 pm : link
It makes no sense. He is not a long term solution, so why would you trade draft capital to have an outside shot (longshot?) at the playoffs and then go right back to QB Hell, as opposed to see where we end up this year and do what you need to do to draft a top QB in the spring.
No!

1/3 of the season over.

Rock vs hard place.

Give up pick(s) , win some games( which would be a nice thing) but drop down the queue for the top 2/3 QBs in the draft where none have hit the ground running, or
stick with DJ, likely win a game or 2 only and get a much better shot at least one of those 2 or 3 in hopes he’s stepped up as the season went on and is worth giving up picks( if he doesn’t fall into our laps).
I’ve always felt: just draft well where you’re at. That said, with 11 games left the win difference I believe will be marginal bringing someone new in vs DJ.
We have a better shot with Lock or DeVito if you want Ws and just enough to still have a shot at a QB.
If the season ended today , the team picks 12th, and in any case, we should not be much better, record wise than we are now, likely dropping to 6th or 7th at the bye.

4th round pick for a guy who is about to be 37 in 2 weeks?
Some of you guys are so desperate to get rid of DJ
81_Great_Dane : 4:56 pm : link
you'll throw out any QB you've heard of.

I understand that, but if the goal is to win a championship, Andy Dalton doesn't help you get there. He might be an ok bridge QB — if the Giants were bridging to someone. But there's no young QB waiting to get on the field. (No, TDV doesn't count, at least not yet, and even if he did, DJ would be the bridge to him.)

I wouldn't give up a single draft pick for Andy Dalton. Not a 7th. Not a 2026 or 2027 7th. Not a conditional pick. There might be some guys on the roster I'd consider trading for Dalton. Maybe Greg Joseph?

Route 9 : 6:43 pm : link
Because I actually have more respect for Andy Dalton and his average QB ass. I have way more respect for Flacco and his average QB ass compared to Jones.

Something about seeing Jones week ... after week ... after week. After week. After year, after year.

It's Jones and his lack of progress that pisses us off. Enough is enough already. Progress? He's going the other way.
the issue isn't the players
RasputinPrime : 6:53 pm : link
is the franchise. Clear as day.
