This one right after the Dalton post... BUT these are legit questions....
BUT DJ is just inconsistent enough to put the NYG in the market for one of these guys b/c, yet again, the NYG will win enough games to be too far down the draft order to get access to one of the big time QBs.
We are about to enter what many have been warning about - QB hell.
One of which being the fact that he is a free agent at the end of the year. I the best case scenario, he comes here, plays well, the Giants sneak into the playoffs, what the fuck would you do with Fields and his contract? Would the Giants really make the same mistake with fields as they did Jones?
The 2024 season is dead. All resources and planning needs to go into 2025 and beyond
enamored with another teams castoff QB? No thanks to any of them. Our next QB needs to be a franchise QB. No teams castoff is going to lead us to a SB.
To win more games this year?
Doesn't that put as in a worse situation in the draft.
Fields is obviously not the answer or the Steelers would have stuck with him over the over the hill Wilson so why would you trade for him by time he got up to speed it's the by week and the season is over.
I realize an upgrade is needed at QB, but Jones has been good for Nabers. When you look at Miami, when Tua went down, the other QB's couldn't get their stars receivers the ball.
Not sure its official "official" - it's all over twitter. ESPN has the link below with this headline: Steelers' Mike Tomlin to consider starting Russell Wilson vs. Jets

Right. Tomlin is considering the idea, and he won't make an announcement until - likely - the weekend.
Maybe a switch does happen, but there is nothing official as the OP suggests.
Pass offense has been putrid. Consider they had a winning record and went to the playoffs with Mason Rudolph and Kenny Pickett. Their defense has been phenomenal more often than not and sets their offense up in great situations. No way they score 32 last week without all the forced turnovers and blocked punt.
Pass on Fields. Talented but slow between the ears. Draft a kid and reset the cap.
Some of his running plays are incredible and he'll take some chances through the air. We'd never do it and it doesnt make sense long term but it would make this year more fun.
I doubt they make a change; I think these statements are to keep Wilson mentally stable. The Steelers are 4-2 and the two games they lost- by 3 to Dallas where Fields threw two TD passes and by 3 to Indy where he threw for over 300 yards and scored 3 td's running and passing. No, he's not a conventional dropback passer but he is a helluva athlete who can run like a deer with a cannon for an arm and shouldn't have been passed up with our shitty qb room at that price.
And don't forget Pittsburgh is not built to be an aerial circus: they let their best receiver walk (the alternatives on the other side of the mercurial Pickens are Calvin Austin and Van Jefferson) and they do not pass block well. I don't see Wilson having much success as they are currently constructed.
Why?
He isn't any good. And the argument that he is better than Jones holds no water. He isn't and even if he is, it isn't worth mentioning. So you do not trade for a marginal upgrade(if any) when those pick(s) may be needed next year.
He was gotten rid of by Chicago and now Pittsburgh is on the verge of replacing him with a washed up Wilson.
If Wilson was that great, he would have started the season. And if he gets injured, Pittsburgh would have no one behind him...their season would be over. I think this is just a temporary benching for Fields, to get his head straight.
Pass.

Then we can concentrate on getting our next franchise QB.

Good for Nabers in the sense that he fed him the ball in the middle of the field, got him beaten up with a concussion, and missed 2 games?

Bad take he got a concussion on the sideline on 4th down with a pretty solid throw.
Pass on Fields. Talented but slow between the ears. Draft a kid and reset the cap.
It will be interesting to see how a soon-to-be 36-year-old QB deals with those limitations.
At least Fields can run for positive yardage/splash plays when the OL collapses a second after the snap.
