It is believed that this could be a significant injury. Whenever the foot is involved, the fear is it could be a Lisfranc injury, which is an injury to the bones or ligaments or both in the middle part of the foot.

There is often damage to the cartilage in a Lisfranc joint injury. Surgery is sometimes required and if not, wearing a boot for several weeks, or months, is often the required therapy.

Eric from BBI : Admin : 10/15/2024 5:55 pm : link
Thomas conferred with the Giants’ medical staff and is also seeking second opinions from outside medical sources. It is believed that one of those options being discussed is surgery.

BTW

John and I just discussed this possibility on our latest Inside BBI show, airs tonight around 8PM.

You have to play Neal or ezeudu . Good luck Daniel .

Ian Rapoport
@RapSheet
Sources: #Giants star LT Andrew Thomas is currently in Charlotte meeting with noted foot expert Dr. Robert Anderson, and his status for the season is now considered to be up in the air.

Surgery to fix the issue, which is possible, would likely be season-ending.
Move El to LT

Play Neal at RT.

Eric on Li : 10/15/2024 5:59 pm : link
losing thomas would suck but good organizations figure it out. detroit is a sb contender and they just lost hutchinson. SF has had a bunch of guys down all year. you compete with whoever is healthy.

or you dont and keep hiring/firing people until you figure out how to compete.
This sucks for many reasons…
wma31 : 10/15/2024 6:00 pm : link
Not the least now being the possibility that Jones gets hurt without Thomas protecting him. Few injuries can hurt this team more than losing Thomas for the season.

They may need to bench Jones sooner than even expected to have insurance to avoid a Jones injury.

This team can’t catch a damn break.

elumeanor has been good, leave him where he is and shift the help to the left side.

neal has sucked at RT may as well see if he can not suck at LT. some guys historically have been better at LT than RT.

Well, shit. Season may be over now for real. In these losing seasons, I just have one hope. That is to beat the eagles. This likely means that ain't happening this week

Giants standout left tackle Andrew Thomas is expected to miss an extended period of time with a foot injury, per sources. He’s still considering other options but there is concern it could be season-ending.
Decent chance
Jerry in_DC : 10/15/2024 6:02 pm : link
that this injury costs Daboll, and possibly Schoen their jobs.
Well at least we had a good OL for one month.

Cue the Vince McMahon crying meme when we look back on it.
Put Neal at LT
eric2425ny : 10/15/2024 6:03 pm : link
It’s his natural position anyway. I honestly feel half the issue with him is they assumed he could just adapt to RT in the NFL and he hasn’t been able to do that. It’s a totally different position.

Watch him play LT and look great.
We’re 2-4
Biteymax22 : 10/15/2024 6:03 pm : link
Do whatever is best long term, Thomas is under contract for a long time.

Regarding Jones, this should get him out of the lineup quicker. Much more likely to have to enact that injury clause with Thomas out.
This more than anything player or front office person

is why I'm starting to hate the NFL. We can be lucky and hit a home run with a QB, GM, or head coach but injuries every fucking year across the entire NFL, season ending injuries to superstar players. What a terrible product.
Another guy

It very well might be the final straw. If they put Ezeudu in at left tackle and get another QB injured they deserve their pink slips.
They need a plan at LT

I think his point is that with Thomas out, the Giants (already 2-4 and can't score TDs without getting 6-7 first downs on a drive) the Giants are likely to finish with 11+ losses which would put the GM and coach on the hot seat in year 3, and having handed out an expensive deal to the QB.
What a disaster

Best of luck to him. Hopefully it is something they can fix without it impacting his future.

Giants offense was already struggling and this won't help. Giants need to add a OL with a premium pick next draft and maybe two.

With Thomas out, they could lose more games.
If they lose more games and things get worse, they could be fired.

This is not advanced math.
Ugh....
OlyWABigBlue : 10/15/2024 6:21 pm : link
It will be interesting to see how they man up along the front if AT is out. For Ezeudu and Neal, they gotta start performing for a second contract or an option.
So...
bw in dc : 10/15/2024 6:21 pm : link
I'm moving Eluemunor to LT for sure.

I guess Neal gets another crack at RT? Or maybe give Runyon a shot at RT?
Please

@DDuggan21
Assuming Thomas misses extended time, the Giants need to move Jermaine Eluemunor to LT. Josh Ezeudu and Evan Neal would be the options at RT. I’d expect Ezeudu to get the first crack at RT (or LT if they keep Eluemunor at RT).

The Giants had all five OL play 100% of the snaps in the first six games. A major shakeup coming.
Sigh

Thomas has durability concerns
Sean : 10/15/2024 6:25 pm : link
Hate to say it, but he seems to get hurt every season. As for Jones, I'd bench him sooner than later. Another pop to the neck could be a disaster.
It
AcidTest : 10/15/2024 6:25 pm : link
certainly seems like it will be season-ending. Wish him the best.

As bad as he was last year, I think their only option is to play Ezeudu at LT and give him help, probably a TE.
On Evan Neal... and he is correct.

DJ's play, Thomas/Thibs/Bruns injuries, I think this all buys Schoen and Dabs more time.

Devastating. It was clear postgame Sunday that Thomas knew something was very wrong. The #Giants largely rationalized last season’s offensive struggles on Thomas’ Week 1 injury and practice setback several weeks later. So that should tell you how this will go
I remember when David Diehl had to go from Guard to LT….
Simms11 : 10/15/2024 6:28 pm : link
He was a natural Guard, but could play all over the Line. He was a very valuable piece of that line. Ezuedu should be better prepared to go to LT now, but I’m so sure I’d risk that. I think it’s going to be Elumenour to LT and Neal back out at RT. 15 PPG might seem high after this shuffled debacle in the making!
You guys cant be serious about Ezeudu

b/c of a week 1 injury to the starting LT does indeed say something.
