just to see wtf this dude has in him. At the very least shit or get off the pot with this guy. He's been healthy the last 2 months or so--he's been practicing. Now or never.

Might as well, season is essentially lost especially with Thomas out. Seriously F this team for not being prepared with LT depth.
before they even knew the outcome with Thomas to be, you can’t play Daniel behind a line with Neal or Ezeudu at LT and risk the injury guarantee. Devito time.
5th year option. Seems highly unlikely they exercise it, but would make sense to give him a look there to be sure. Ezeudu has been completely awful at tackle and looked just as bad in the preseason. If Neal isn't better than him, then it's a huge failure by the front office to not have any tackle insurance.
I worry about the limitations of DJ and Daboll's offense now. They struggle to barely even get first downs and need to get 6+ successive first downs to get a TD. How conservative and predictable is it going to get now when they try and scheme extra help for the backup tackle?

I mean they signed a good RT and he's played well. They had a pro bowl LT. They had a 7th overall prospect on the bench in Neal. It's pretty hard to possess a good swing tackle let along good starting tackles.
Maybe Neal plays well. He's getting good coaching now. I can't kill NYG for the way they handled tackle this season. They devoted a ton of resources to the OL in FA.
of ongoing auditions for second contracts. For longer-term goals, this could be beneficial for roster construction going forward although this season would be (is) toast. Ezeudu and Neal will have to take advantage of the opportunities afforded as they will become further and farther between without performance. Next man up....
Define/develop assets, cull non-performance and use or keep assets in the future depending upon what is needed to secure a QB.
That and wishing AT a speedy and complete recovery.
And play what he was drafted here at the No. 7 overall pick. If he fails, then he needs to be off the team next year. No need wasting more time on him.
And either see if he is salvageable or write him off. They will stubbornly stick with Jones despite the injury clause and the terrible play.
And yeah, the 5 Jones apologists left on this site just started jumping up and down that they have an excuse to say Season 6 can’t be used to evaluate Jones because he was playing like a superstar before Thomas got hurt (because that will explain away the game against the Bengals).

It was 100% the right decision to extend him. These last two injuries haven’t even been related to his previous ankle issues. It’s just been bad luck

How many more LTs were they supposed to sign to back up the All-Pro?
You cannot have starter depth at every position. If you want that, shrink the league to 20 teams.

I agree that it was 100% right to extend him. But at this point, anyone thinking it is just bad luck is stupid. At some point you have to realize that he is injury prone--that is not his fault and it is really unfortunate, but the fact that he played 2 of 6 complete seasons, played 16 of 34 games in 23 and 24 cannot be ignored or attributed to bad luck. It is that type of thinking that has gotten this organization into a host of issues in the past decade. I am not sure what the solution is in that you just have to play Thomas and hope for the best because he is so talented, but we need to prepare in future years for this recurrence, unlike this year.

Reminds me of Greg Birds time with NYY, although AT is more important to NYG than Bird was to the Yanks
That would be bold; and, I believe, the right move. But there is NFW I can see that happening right now.
And here's why. The NFCE is an oil spill. It's completely up for grabs.
Washington looks the best, but they just lost one of the best defenders in Jonathan Allen. And their D was already a bottom third performer.
Dallas is a sieve on D and they can't run the ball.
And the Eagles are one more bad loss away from a complete implosion inside the Linc.
So, NYG is still in it; and this is where Mara uses the ownership card and insists the team stay the course until they are officially mathematically eliminated.
Wish Thomas a complete successful recovery
As far as who replaces Thomas I would play Neal at RT and Elumenor at LT.
We need to make a final decision on Neal going into 2025.

I have to agree. The guy is injury prone.
He's a very good player when healthy - but availability is a big part of the NFL.

This. Season is over Neal needs to get time. Don't care which side either. That's Bricillos call.
The Giants do not have a snowball's chance in hell to grab anything. Other than maybe a few more meaningless wins at the buzzer that only screw up our draft position.
…and some analysts have speculated that his problems at ROT are because he’s had difficulty making the switch from LOT (plus injuries of course). So why not play him at LOT?
at ROT his 2nd year at Bama, he moved to LOT his last year.
His tape (in some ways), was better at ROT than left (I think Sy mentioned that somewhere along the lines, maybe in his scouting report.)

What’s the difference between injury prone and bad luck? Semantics in my book, I don’t know how else to describe someone that’s injury prone other than it’s something you can’t predict or prevent, but happens.
This makes the argument for benching Jones far stronger. He's going to get hurt, and this dumbass team will be on the hook for his salary next year due to the injury guarantee.
Good luck in the recovery and hope to better health in future seasons.
If LT is an issue, it’s easier to scheme for that than it is both tackle spots by moving the launch point and chipping.
Might as well, season is essentially lost especially with Thomas out. Seriously F this team for not being prepared with LT depth.
His injury clause is a lot more risky now.

I definitely feel that Neal needs to be the RT and JEL moved to LT. I don't like Ezeudu out there at all.

100% agree.
And it's gotten worse as his proceeded thru his career.
Silver lining is he's still just 25.

I agree, however, Daboll seems to like Ezudu at LT, I think Neal may have more natural ability at LT over RT.
