Tom Coughlin, Dan Reeves and Bill Arnsparger moved one step closer to election for the @ProFootballHOF Class of 2025 today. The Hall’s Blue-Ribbon Committee narrowed its original list of 14 nominees to 12 today and the three former Giants head coaches are among them.
Isn't Arnsberger known for what he did in college?

I thought he was one the coaches for the Giants from the debacle that was the 1970s for the franchise.

Dolphins DC.
They have a formal step to go from 14 to 12?

OK. I always thought head coaches were considered more than coordinators but never bothered to check who is and isn't in who is a head coach.
No to Bill Arnsparger

Great DC sure. But in his only stint as a HC he was 7-28 with a .200 winning %. That's the lowest numbers in both categories in NYG's history, for a (non-interim) HC.
Arnsparger was the prototype "great coordinator, bad HC"

he was considered a great hire from outside the family at the time. Live and learn.
I would love it if Eli and Tom could go in together!!!!

So well deserved for both of them.

Tom has so many great accomplishments with the Jags and Giants.

I wonder if he would get Strahan to introduce him.

Who would introduce Eli? Peyton?
Arnsparger is one of the greatest defensive coaches of all time.

His defenses in Miami are legendary.

And while he did not prove to be a good HC for the G-men, he rebuilt the defensive tradition that Allie Sherman destroyed. Those defenses gave us something worth watching and rooting for during the "fifteen years of lousy football." They were so good that they could steal an occasional win even with an offense that was worse than what the G-men have now.

When Arnsparger departed, he left the defensive tradition that helped Ray Perkins get the GIANTS back to the playoffs, and that eventually carried the Super Bowl winning teams that the Tuna and Little Bill built.

So Bill Arsparger belongs in Canton along with a few other great one-dimensional coaches like Don Coryell.
would love it

If TC went in with BB
...
TC deserves to be in. I believe he has a higher winning % than Flores.
Good luck TC
9/14 HC's with multiple SB wins are in the HOF. BB and AR are not eligible. TC is the top choice imv.

TC absolutely has to go in

he more than deserves it.
Arnsparger getting in should help...

That would be interesting but both Coughlin and Belichick should go in on their own so they don’t share the spotlight. Besides Belichick isn’t eligible for a few years. Why should Coughlin have to wait for him?

I think there are some coordinators in the HOF. Arnsparger deserves that honor as much as anyone. Coughlin definitely should get in ahead of Reeves. Coughlin built a franchise and then won 2 SBs. Reeves coached for a great organization and that helped. When he went to Atlanta, he got a bit lucky by inheriting a great team.
