As we saw today and in the preseason Drew Lock is even worse than him. DeVito can't beat out Drew Lock so that tells you everything you need to know about him.
did you want Lock to win it or just tie it up?
Daniel Jones Boone claims another coaching pelt.
He was 3 for 8 for 6 yards with 2 fumbles. Threw a pass to Nabers on the left side of the field that was easily knocked down and probably should've been picked. Also overthrew a pass in the middle of the field that probably should've been picked as well.
The guy was terrible in the preseason and just as bad today. DJ fucking sucks, but he's much better than Lock.
DJ isn't "much better" than anyone
He's much better than Drew Lock and DJ is a fucking terrible QB.
Panthers benched Bryce Young in his third year, the #1 overall pick, who they traded a fortune to move up to take. For Andy Dalton.
Why won't Daboll bench Jones? Jones is in his sixth year, his third year with Daboll, and Daboll didn't even draft him.
But the Panthers realized they needed an experienced backup. The Giants were so worried about upsetting poor Daniel that they had to bring in a joke of. A backup, and then hold a press conference where he swore he wasn’t here to start.
This team is not serious about winning. It isn’t.
I habe given Daboll and Schoen the benefit of the doubt
there is talent on this roster but at this point sticking with Jones is signing their pink slips, there is absolutely no reason why this QB should be stsrting..
He is lost and now is hesring footsteps..I know Lock is nothing special but it is ridiculous at this point
I can’t make sense of it. If Jones is a franchise QB, why would he mind the competition from the 2nd stringer? The only thing I can think is that the person who forced Lock to humiliate himself in public can’t string a few logical propositions together. It’s possibly an inane committee decision.
Here are Lock's stats in his Giants career (Including the preseason)
7 for 18 for 23 yards with 1 INT and 2 fumbles
They purposefully brought in a joke of a backup because if they brought in anyone half decent, they knew the fans would be chanting for him. Lock is only here because he is worse than Jones. There was never an honest attempt to have a good QB on this roster because it would upset poor Daniel.
of a down field passing game. Plus you have to give the rest of the team something. You have to show them you are at least trying. Running Daniel Jones back out there doesn't do that.

Who could they have brought in though? I know people are gonna say Darnold because he's hashing a good year with the Vikings, but he was absolutely terrible for years as well. They didn't bring in a "half decent" QB because they thought they were going to be able to draft one in Round 1.
I think the Maye stuff was partly cover for the decision to stick with
And look any of the other 52 guys on the roster in the eye and tell them you are trying to win.
John Mara, Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll should be walking around the lockerroom apologizing to everyone else on the roster for wasting a year of their career and putting their health at risk to play these silly games of propping up a terrible QB.
TJ Watt might make the decision for Daboll next week
Jones. Saying you wanted to trade for a QB from a QB hungry team who had no intention of trading isn't really trying. It's PR.
They offered a bunch of picks to move up to 3. Including at least 2 first rounders and 1 second rounder. They weren't trying to stick with Daniel Jones. The Giants realistically thought a deal could get done and the Pats did nothing to indicate a deal wasn't possible.
are not forcing his hand? And telling him don’t worry about losing your job as we’re going to have a higher draft pick next year as an end result. We’re going to put ourselves in position to draft the next Franchise QB. Would DeVito really be any better? I think he’d push the ball down field, but he’s another guy that holds the ball too long and will be sacked or running for his life anyway.
I think these guys have been making it apparent to their future employers that they had no choice but to keep playing Jones. It may or may not be true, but that is what they have been projecting publicly without actually saying it.
I think this is pretty accurate. I also am nearly 100% positive that Daboll does not have the authority to bench Daniel.

Lock really is worse than Jones, then why did Schoen sign him? Doing so is just another lousy personnel decision by Schoen and therefore yet another reason to fire him.
Just let Saquon Barkley AND Xavier McKinney walk so they would be able to sign Daniel Jones???? That is catastrophically bad. Everyone needs to get fired; including the owner.
Agree 1000%
This is where the problem lies. period.
You hired the wrong people. smh.
He's done enough good stuff to justify his continued employment.
As for Daboll, I'll just say that I've never advocated for a coach to be fired. When things go bad I simply stop defending them and caring about whether they stay or go. I'm not there yet with Daboll, but I'm approaching that zip code.

They clearly only liked Daniels and Maye and they were picking 6th when it was fairly obvious both would be gone. Why on earth would they have thought they were getting a QB in the draft?

If you're right (and I agree with you about Daboll/Jones) then why would anything change if Daboll and Schoen are fired? What makes anyone think the next "head coach" or the next "GM" would be able to do anything differently? The reality is that Daboll is not the head coach. John Mara is. Schoen is not the GM. Chris Mara is. Daboll and Schoen are minor-league assistants and yes-men. Tim McDonnell is the Director of Player Personnel. (Ok. Tim really is that.) Nothing will change until all of this changes, and there is no sign that it will. The media won't even report on it! The current Giants ownership structure was handed two championships and then gave fans the worst stadium and a near-decade of terrible football.

Chris Mara does nothing. Absolutely nothing than the occasional whisper in John’s ear about a topic that John would make a bad decision in anyway.

They weren't trying to stick with Jones and Penix was drafted two picks later. Evaluation of Penix was conspicuously absent on Hard Knocks. I'd love to know what made them think he was no better than what we have now.
Didn't want to draft him. Wanted to do anything we could to trade up for a QB this year. If any of you think Lock or DeVito are better options you're out of your mind. Lock could barely complete a pass today. Dropped a snap and had a fumble in like 10 plays.
1. Lock has had zero practice time. So, Jones gets 6 seasons and Lock is supposed to come off the bench with zero 1st team reps all season and do what, exactly?
2. DO NOT let this franchise off the hook because there isn’t a better option than Jones on the team. That was THEIR decision because they didn’t want poor little Danny boy to feel the pressure of competition. Even if you think there isn’t a better option on the roster that is no reason to just blow this off and say “oh well, I guess I understand them sticking with Jones”. No. Fuck that.

I’m not advocating firing anybody but don’t split the ticket. They are joined at the hip about giving Jones the contract. Retain both; fire both. Don’t even care .
so are we comfortable with the guys who picked him and who have doubled and tripled down with Jones pick our next QB??? I'd prefer not to clean house every 3 years but these guys have been incompetent.
Daboll has been told that Jones is the starter, or the speculation mentioned here a couple of weeks ago that the Giants were “quite tanking” is true. I hope it’s the latter.

We went into this season with a QB depth chart of Jones, Lock, and DeVito.
That’s on Schoen. And that’s a fireable offense.

There's about 7 teams that need a QB as well and we may miss out on the top 3 again...and get stuck with DJ
Bingo
These games are literally unwatchable. It's pure frustration. Why even bother.
Schoen designed the unsinkable ship!
Not enough life boats for the fans
