I think these guys have been making it apparent to their future employers that they had no choice but to keep playing Jones. It may or may not be true, but that is what they have been projecting publicly without actually saying it.

That's my thought. Daboll says the company line publicly, but he knows that Jones is toast. Based on how Jones has played the last two years, if he hadn't gotten hurt last year, we probably end up drafting his replacement back in April.
So keep throwing Jones out there. As long as he doesn't get seriously hurt, he'll get us the draft pick we need.

But he could accomplish the same thing by saying it's time for a change at QB - under the guise of giving the team some new energy, etc - and protect the cap hit if Jones gets injured to the point where he can't pass a physical.

Maybe Daboll doesn’t want to coach anymore.
Of course, getting Jones hurt, possibly hurting the cap next year and being unserious about winning real football games takes a back seat.
