NYG Postgame (vs. Eagles) Select Quotes: DL Dexter Lawrence II
October 20, 2024
Q: When you see fans burning Saquon’s jersey in the parking lot and booing him in the building, what is your reaction to that?
A: Like I said during the week, I know what kind of player he was to this organization and who he was to me, so I have nothing but respect for him. I can’t control how other people feel about him, but I know who he is.
Q: Dexter, what were some of the issues that you saw up front on defense as to why he [Eagles RB Saquon Barkley] got so many large-yardage chunk plays?
A: All 11 had to do our jobs and we knew that coming into the game. We got out of the gap sometimes, and that’s when he broke for those big runs. On a scramble, he broke a sack and broke it for a big run. We all have to do our job and that is what it’s going to take .
Q: Did you get a sense that he wanted this one [game against the Giants in his first time back at MetLife Stadium against the Giants as an Eagle] more than any other game?
A: I’m don’t know if I got a sense, but that would make sense, if that makes sense. I played with him for years, I know his attitude towards the game, and that’s the way he approached it today.
Q: He [Eagles RB Saquon Barkley] took the high road after the game saying that he has nothing but respect for the [New York Football Giants] franchise. That doesn’t surprise you either, does it?
A: No. That’s the kind of guy he is; I respect the guy.
Q: I think towards the end of the third quarter, Hawkins [Giants CB Tre Hawkins III] got hurt and there were a few minutes where he [Eagles RB Saquon Barkley] was standing in front of you guys [the Giants Defense], what was he saying?
A: We were just talking back and forth a little bit. Nothing too crazy, just talking back and forth.
