Just curious on what people expectation was for the Giants heading into this 2024 season. I know it wasn't high as last year, but did we expect more win, same, or less? Anyone predict this team going to the playoffs?
I actually thought the Giants would have around 8 win, now they be lucky if they have 4 wins.
My question is if alot of people had low expectation of the team, why are fans surprised that we are 2-5? Granted teams changed every year & no one can expect the offense to be this bad especially at home, but still. I remember fans saying we don't have a quarterback to throw the ball to Nabers. How accurate is that now?
How many wins did you predict the Giants would have?
I predicted 1-5 with the season not getting out of October and that this will cause a blowback unlike any we have seen due to the state of the QB position
I predicted 3-14 before the season, looks like I'll be pretty close.
I didn't know the Redskins had Mariota as backup. How many teams in the NFL have backups capable of taking their team to the Super Bowl versus barely competent backups?
The team was built. The QB, the OL, the big WR, NT, edge rushers, #1 corner...
These guys had three years to build their team, and they built it.
My expectation was 10-7, minimum.
I get your point as you've posted a few variations of this in the past. I'd only counter, find me the independent prognosticator who placed the expectations near 10 wins. I doubt it exists. Your point is fine but just say they made the wrong moves, not that they should win 10. That's where it gets into the BS realm and you lose people.
5-12, plus or minus 2 depending on good or bad luck
Either way, I had them 2-5 at this point of the season, though they got there a different way. Too bad because I saw them starting 2-0 then losing 5 straight. If that happened I think Jones would have been benched after today.

The question was about expectation. I thought 10 wins was a fair expectation.
My prediction, because I knew this was a bad team, was 5-12 to 7-10.

There will be optimistic fans thinking they will be better. We fans can make prediction, but it doesn't mean anything to how the team actually does.
Boy was I wrong. I mean I figured with a decent line finally and a WR1, Jones would at least be average. That first game was my tipping point though. He was so bad so consistently that I finally realized it was him who was the problem.
I am very close to just being done with NYG football forever. Life is too short to be irritated every Sunday.
put a win total down I'm pretty sure on any of the prediction threads. My main thought was we have some talent on D, the OL hopefully would be better with the guys they brought in but DJ would hold us back.
Was hoping for 7 wins with some good luck maybe 9.
We lost some games so far that a good GB could have pulled out IMO, at least the Dallas and Bengals game.
It's too bad, it really is.
I am a breakfast cook and on Sundays when we play at 1 I watch it on delay.
While I was had work yesterday morning I thought for a moment..."Oh yeah Giants play today"
that says a lot as at one timeI would count the days till game day.
I wasn't bothered by yesterday, that is where I am at.
Telling.
I was expecting a mediocre season, team addressed everything we were told Jones needed, line, receivers and he still can't hit any one in stride. DJ looks scared on the field and totally confused on the sidelines. My image of Jones now is the play (4 years ago tomorrow ) when he ran 80 yards all alone and he trips over his own 2 feet. I'm so tired of our games being over with the opening kick off.
I have to find something better to do with my Sunday afternoons.
what we have gotten is way worse than that. I never thought or offense would be this bad and because of that, Daboll can't get out of town fast enough.
as there would be no serious improvement at QB. Jones is who he's always been and remains. With him in there, the team would eventually surrender knowing their chances of victory would always be a roll of the dice at best. Giants were unserious about the QB position after blowing the crucial decision. It's becoming humorous to some weird extent predicting their failures before they occur.

I wouldn't say they were unserious; they tried to draft a quarterback, but it didn't workout. I will say that Joe Schoen should had brought in competition with Jones at quarterback.

I don't think anyone expected the offense to be this bad. I thought with an improve line & a number 1 receiver, Jones would improve. Man was I wrong.

Expected this to be a throwaway year so I’ve mercifully missed half the games thus far.
