was I ll have to watch the tape. Except when it came to the QB. Without even being asked he said Jones is the QB going forward. Huh? Don't u even want to review it?
the joe judge phase of "it's gonna be ok". daboll appears to be getting to the point where he realizes the call is coming from inside the house and there's nothing he can do to stop it.
while they still have a mathematical chance to make the playoffs.
And it's silly to compare a HC needing to review a particular play on film before answering a reporter's question with a question about whether the current QB will remain a starter.
A HC doesn't need to review the film of the most recent game to answer a question about potentially replacing a starter, as he has already seen tons of film on all his players, both starters and backups.
apparently this is the last stand of the Jones people. Was Lock supposed to win it or just tie it up? Don’t worry about Lock. He’s sorry he ever left Seattle and will be out of here next season after being told he’d compete for the starting job when no competition was planned or executed. Worry instead that the FO will find another 18 excuses for Jones, re-do his contract and run his sorry ass out there again.
I did. But don't want to be on the hook for 23 mil if jones gets hurt. DeVito won 3 games last year.
I’m at the point where I’m ok with the $23m if it means new QB. Not what I want, but I’d pay whatever it takes to move on from Jones and if its that shitty clause triggering, so be it.
that changing the QB isn't Daboll's call. Whatever his faults as HC, he's been around the league a long time and knows QB's. He knows what the has here, he knows the utter lack of a plan at QB there was going into this season. He doesn't need to watch film because he knows it doesn't matter.
Lock sucks but he’s also had zero 1st team reps all season. How would you expect him to look? Jones was trash in week 1 and the excuses were flying because he was supposedly “rusty” even after getting all the reps during camp. Why wouldn’t you same people offer that same excuse to Lock?
Lock and/or Devito will, in all likelihood, get a shot to start at some point this season. All his answer indicates is that they haven't reached the point in the season where they're throwing in the towel and starting guys because they no longer GAF.
Not a shocking position for a coach less than halfway through the year when his team is still mathematically alive. Honestly, it would be more shocking (and perhaps even troubling in terms of his mentality) if he DID concede the season this early.
He was basically saying that he was benched just for this game not looking ahead. He can come back on Tuesday and say I watched the tape and think its time to make a move at QB.
He at least needs to give up some reps this week for the inevitable time where the game on Monday resembles the game yesterday.

I'd expect him to look like every other backup QB that comes in without 1st team reps and be able to make a couple throws.
Point is ... original poster asked why he doesn't need to look at the tape to make the call at QB. There's nothing good to see from Lock on the tape. Lock was awful. If you want to go with him anyway, fine. Or try Devito at some point, I'm not opposed. But there's nothing from Lock in the tape that'll say to make that move.

I wonder if a defense plays differently when it's up 28-3 and knows a pass is coming every play.

Not saying he's the answer but that situation isn't great.
