The problem I keep having is I seriously can't tell if this is Daboll speaking truthfully or if this is Daboll repeating what he is told.
Unless the fiery Daboll returns, I'm done with him. I had no problem with the thrown tablet, the yelling, the passion, etc. It beats the Hell out of this apathetic version. I don't know why he listened to critics or quite possibly Mara listened to critics and was embarrassed this wasn't the "Giants way" forgetting Parcells and Coughlin once coached this team to glory.

Yeah, I get that too. He pretty much agreed with Nabers being open, but then just sticks with Jones?

You think Lock is a better option?
I sure as heck don’t
Like he doesn't want to be here. As if he's being dictated to.
IDK, maybe I'm reading too much into it.
I hear you. I refuse to believe Daboll is looking at the tape and concluding Jones is really doing his job. I just can't buy it.
Then there is this about Jones from Daboll's presser:
BRIAN DABOLL: Yeah and took care of it. There’s always a few in there where the defense might get you, or there’s a disguise and it looks like something and there’s a reason behind why we do what we do. But he’s taking care of the ball. He’s made the right decisions, for the most part. We’ll go ahead and work hard to get ready for a great Pittsburgh Steelers team.
BFD. Jones is protecting the ball Wuuuuufuckingweeee. We are 31st in PPG at 14. The $160M man still can't produce points after six years.
But, hey, they are going to watch more tape, work harder, and be "Smart, Tough, and Dependable"...
Can you imagine the dialogue in the hallways at 1925 Giants Way?
Mara: "Joe, did you see what time Daniel got to work today?"
Schoen: "I heard. Yeah, 5:45am. That's great!"
Mara: "Kid is such a hard worker. I think he'll be ready on Monday. He and Dabs are turning over every stone to battle Pittsburgh..."
Fist bump occurs.
Schoen: "Smart, Tough, Dependable!"
Mara (grins): "I'll see you at lunch. I'll see if Chris wants to go..."
he going to do. All the options are bad. You get a sense he really wanted a Qb and didn't get his way and now his showing his ass
The options are all bad but the future is more important and Jones is one TJ Watt hit away from costing them valuable cap dollars. It's insanity to keep playing him out there. If the purpose is to 'tank' because you know Jones is incapable of scoring, Lock will do a good enough job of that by throwing dumb picks without the risk of the injury clause.

I sure as heck don’t
I don't think Lock or DeVito are better options. In fact, I don't think Lock should play unless it is as an in game replacement. I think DeVito should play just to see if he is a worse option or not (the answer is not clear). But, either is a different option, which at this point, is very important. Jones just sucks and is sucking the life out of the team. Right now, it is anyone but Jones for me and I don't doubt there are players who agree.
But you keep doing the same thing over and over and over again and expecting something drastically different?.....the guy is a FUCKING MORON! DONE, I am DONE with him Got to GO!
Yet he's sticking with Jones...will be happy when he's gone WITH Jones. Wants to pout, bitch, and moan during the game but won't hold anyone accountable. Goodbye Daboll.

I think Lock or Devito can get injured without consequence. I think the Giants' record probably ends up the same with any of the three because none of them are good enough.
Does it really matter how we get to the basement as long as we don't trigger DJ's injury guarantee in the process?

"Look, I know he isn't very good, some might say he sucks, but what other options do I have? Drew fucking Lock? Tommy? Don't field a QB and direct snap to the running backs? John loves the kid and wants me to keep starting him, Joe doesn't have the balls to stand up to John, so where does that leave me? I'm just making sure I don't get fired for cause so I can still collect my salary, alright"

but Daboll looks like a totally defeated man. His reaction to all of this is so blase and uninspiring that it seems as if he (and Schoen) know for sure they're either gone or coming back. My fear is the latter of course.
we've seen a similar situation before--when Eli was declining and McAdoo switched to Geno Smith. McAdoo paid for that "mistake" with his job. In hindsight, McAdoo was obviously a flawed coach, but he understood Eli was shot and his desire for Mahomes has been vindicated in a world-historical way.
Now DJ is no Eli and you can make an excuse for a franchise making sure a legend gets a royal exit, even if it's not the best business decision.
But what we're seeing now--another QB situation where the starter should almost certainly be benched even if it is just to underline to the team that we hold people accountable for shit performances no matter who they are--might suggest that the Jones decision is not entirely in Daboll's hands.
And if that's the case, we're so fucking fucked that it's hard to see a way out.
Hard to believe Daboll is willing to go down with the "Jones" Ship
Something is brewing from above....and we as fans suffer for it.
Why can't Daboll and Schoen speak more freely and act more wisely than throwing the same wet paper at the wall and hoping for a better brand of wallpaper??????
he going to do. All the options are bad. You get a sense he really wanted a Qb and didn't get his way and now his showing his ass

How much worse can either Lock or DeVito be? You mean we may get shut out rather than score 3 points? I want nothing to do with Lock, but why not see if we have anything in DeVito? Probably not, but it's not like we're losing anything.
Jones is one TJ WATT hit away from being in a wheelchair the rest of his life..That's what crazy about this QB situation..
It took them a half, but Pittsburgh completely neutralized a more talented Jets team last night and held them to a measly 15 points.
So, what the hell are the Giants going to do in Pittsburgh? While anything is possible, but I'm not sure how we score. This is Pittsburgh's last game before their bye, and they need to keep pace with the Ravens. This game might be even uglier than yesterday.
Despite the likely loss, however, Daboll will be able to look at the tape, see who did what, and get the team ready to work hard for the Washington game.

They are scoring 15 points per game. 30th out of 32 teams.
There is no value to preserve within Daniel Jones, as he shouldn't stay on the team and most certainly cannot be traded. However there is a liability to prevent triggering with his contract.
At least more play with DeVito can see if he can keep some type of backup job because we will need more than one QB next year.
And spare me the "DJ gives us the best chance to win" crap as he cannot move the Offense and he can't get the team into the end zone. At all.
IDK, maybe I'm reading too much into it.

He must be dimly aware of his status and impact in some way.
They all suck. This is like picking which QB sucks the least.
Which is the EXACT scenario most of us dreaded when Schoen and Co. didn't land a rookie QB in the draft this year.

They crossed the 50 yard line once yesterday lol
I think Lock is a better option.
They aren't producing anything offensively, esp at home.
Mara wants to win games. QB is the #1 problem right now.
It's the easiest switch to make to jumpstart a team.
Even it it fails - it should be done.
Maybe Daboll doesn't like it here anymore and wants to get fired.
I would freaking love that!
If he doesn't realize he has to make the change BEFORE everything blows up in his face, then he's definitely NOT the right HC for this team.
Either way, BAD scenarios.
