On the Positive News... Dexter Lawrence

kash94 : 10/21/2024 4:08 pm
Through 7 games, Lawrence has 9 sacks despite being double teamed on ~130 snaps.

Both of these stats (sacks + double teams) lead the league.

The next closest player in doubleteams (90) has only 4 sacks.

The next closest player in sacks (8) has only been doubleteamed 10 times.

Absurd production. I think getting a serviceable linemen to play next to him is one of the many priorities this offseason.

Getting someone to pair with him is the biggest priority. Teams just run it down the giants throat when he checks out of a game. He's a monster.
Yeah, and he is being wasted.
Matt M. : 10/21/2024 4:12 pm : link
By the time we can get good, he will be on the downside. He's already in year 6 himself and at 340 lbs. he isn't going to last much longer like this.
Sexy Dexy...

deserves to be showcasing his talent in the playoffs.
Can you imagine if DG drafted Josh Hines-Allen at #6

...and Lawrence at #17?

My goodness the defense would have been absolutely game-wrecking the pats 5 years.

Daboll won't do this since he may be on the hot seat, but I'd be super cautious with playing him if he has ANY sort of injury down the stretch.

If I were Dex, I think I would demand a trade.

Agreed - depending on how this offseason goes.
He is so friggin good

Right now, him and Nabers are the only reason to watch. Personally, I'd also like to see Tracy and Johnson.

I remember when that draft played out and he fell to #6 and I thought we had gotten a windfall.

But nope.
Another Giants player

Is it outrageous to say he could end up in Canton?
Just a complete monster.
ThomasG : 10/21/2024 4:44 pm : link
And a great attitude despite the losing and the crappy Offense he has to pick up.

Rare player.

I don't think so. He may end up as one of the best NT ever?

I could be wrong on this, but I feel like W/L records don't matter as much for defensive players re: the HOF.

Nope. Not at all.
If the Giants were a better team
GoDeep13 : 10/21/2024 4:52 pm : link
He'd be leading in DPOY votes.

He still has to be the front runner, no?
If he stays healthy, I think DL has a good shot at Canton

If he makes it, they should put his bust right next to Dick Butkus. The Bears' incompetency wasted his talents as well.

Sometimes teams should trade stars for draft picks

If you want to make yourself even crazier... in that scenario the Giants likely would have been in position to take Herbert in the draft the following year.

How much of a difference maker is Dexter Lawrence?
If you go by some numbers (defensive rank, and rush defense rank, wins) the Giants defense has not been that good with Lawrence. The Giants have only one winning season with Lawrence. Other players were labeled by some here as not being difference makers because the units they played on did not have good statistical rankings and the Giants were not winning. So, should Dexter be judged the same way?
