By default if he has another 2000 rushing season?
There have been only eight running backs who have rushed for 2000 yards or more.
1 1973 O. J. Simpson
2 1984 Eric Dickerson
3 1997 Barry Sanders
4 1998 Terrell Davis
5 2003 Jamal Lewis
6 2009 Chris Johnson
7 2012 Adrian Peterson
8 2020 Derrick Henry
Henry has a chance this year to become only two time 2000 yard rusher. I have to admit, to me at least, his career has flown under the radar having played for a smaller market team. With all the hype surrounding the likes of Elliott, Barkley and McCaffrey, Henry (arguably) is the best RB of his generation.
He’s on pace for 2000yds this year. If he stays healthy and plays 1 more season he’ll be very close to top 10. If he plays longer than that he can make top 6. The guy is a beast and on the perfect team.
The long runs defy common sense. He’s special.

Someone started a thread about comparison with Jim Brown. And most of us old-timers, including me, scoffed. But it's not so crazy. Size, speed, skills and durability - Henry has them all. I guess he loses points for not being the best lacrosse player in history as well. :-)
That would get him to top ten in rushing yards, which is tremendous in this era of passing.
Schoen signed Singletary for $16,500,000 while Henry signed for $16,000,000.
Good or bad, the Giants are stuck with the JAG for the extra year.

He's a bruiser with plenty of flash. The type of player many fans will fondly remember a decade plus after he retires imv.
Absolute freak of nature.

Players get to choose their destination when they reach free agency. If you were Derrick Henry, would you choose the Giants over the Ravens for the same money? If I were a RB, particularly an aging one, I'd be looking for a ring to go along with that payday.
I doubt Henry would have even picked up the phone from the Giants, regardless of the GM, unless they were willing to way overpay - and even then, it's no sure thing that Henry would have had any interest in spending the final few years of his prime toiling away behind a bad OL (especially the perception in this past offseason) with a bad QB situation and iffy skill position players. Remember, free agency happens before the draft. The top receiving threat at that time was still a not-yet-retired Darren Waller.

Really good chance? Donald is a sure-fire first ballot HoF. Easily.
