Filip Chytil and the third line give us so much depth we didn't have last season. And 20 5 on 5 goals in 6 games is something we never saw last year. Let's go!
Zac Jones getting Zac Jones'ed again! I feel for the guy, he's done nothing to earn getting benched, just seems like it never works out for him, but Mancini has earned his spot. Lindgren was rusty the other night, hopefully he catches up to speed or he might be the one to get the press box. No Barkov for the Panthers, and they have Mackie Samoskevich on their 3rd line, noteworthy for us Connecticut folks, as he grew up where I live in Sandy Hook.
I don't have the exact stats at the moment (and too lazy to look them up), but the Chytil line has been on the ice for 7 goals for, 0 against. Their xGF% is over 70, and Cuylle has 6 points, Chytil and Kakko 5 each, in 6 games. Truly incredible start for them, and the whole top 9 really. All the crap Mika gets, he has 6 points in 6 games. Rangers have 10 players with 5 points or more! The entire top 9 plus Fox. Can the playoffs just start right now!?!
Why they re-signed Ruhwedel in the first place I don't know.
He was signed as the 7th D and no one saw Mancini forcing his way onto the bottom pair. It was a good signing at the time and would have been one less deal to make at the trade deadline. It stinks for Ruhwedel and Jones, but good for us.
16. Rangers’ top pair could make 2025 ‘their year’
The Rangers have been the league’s most impressive team in the early stretch of the season, and a big part of that is their sudden five-on-five dominance. What’s long been an issue for this club looks like it could be a serious strength this season if the Rangers can continue generating quality looks the way they have so far, earning a league-leading 63 percent of the expected goals.
One major catalyst for that: a new-look top pair with Adam Fox and K’Andre Miller. The Rangers have opted to stack the deck up top and it has paid massive dividends so far, with the pair earning 73 percent of the expected goals. That’s a really promising start; the big question is whether the rest of the team’s defensive depth can handle the remaining minutes. So far, so good, with the second pair of Braden Schneider and Jacob Trouba also dominating.
With the way the top four looks right now, all the offensive weapons up front and, of course, the best goalie in the world, the Rangers look like the team to beat this season.
They’re in our heads now. They own us. I don’t care what their record is. Still need to get tougher and compete physically. I know the stats say we ar out hitting them and have less giveaways. It doesn’t feel like it though.
And Zibanejad...I think it's time to play Laf on PP1 over him
He is absolute trash right now, I counted 5 giveaways. I don’t think Laviolette is too happy with him either: I may be wrong about Riley, but I think #93 was the only player of his line who was not mixed and matched with Bread, Laf, Trocheck, etc. There could be something to Avery’s dig.
Otherwise, plus ça change…:
Opening minutes of 2nd, Verhagy takes a cross ice as he steams down his right wing and walks in on Igor, CK nowhere to be seen on the backcheck. Moments later KAM has his guy tied up behind the net and Fox is also behind the goal line on the same side of Igor’s net and a dish comes to a wide open
forsling. Fs are not owning up to the two-way game and it shows in too much open ice and too many odd man rushes.
1 for 15 on PP in ECF. 0 for 3 tonight
Good morning to everyone except to the people it's not morning for.

Bobrovsky outstanding in goal
Rangers really need better defensive coverage
