I agree 100%. Like Eric said last week, Barkley can still be a good player and it can be the right move to have let him go. Both can be true. The real mistake was re-signing Jones. At most, they should have tagged him. I am pissed every week watching an inept Jones. I was not pissed watching Barkley run on the Giants. He is not really a difference maker for the Eagles and the Giants wouldn't be any better with him.

It was not trading Barkley for assets when we had the chance since we weren’t paying him. Terrible job by Schoen. Terrible.
Schoen said he heard Philly was out. The thought was that Chicago was going to come in with a huge offer.
However, by later on in the season, it was clear he was going to Philly. Schoen even joked with Saquon's agent and said something like "just let me know when it's about to happen so I can brace here". There was zero surprise from Mara or anyone that Saquon went to Philly.
Mara was annoyed but when he went into JS's office, Schoen said to him "we'll be alright". And Mara told him "I know we will", and left.
McAfee doesn't have his facts straight. JS said over and over about the stats of 27 year old RBs and how they fall off a cliff. Let's see where Saquon is at the end of the season and next year as well. There is a non-zero chance Philly fans will be killing the Eagles about Saquon's contract this time next year.
IMO, Schoen was trying to force a decision on Jones this year. He knew he had this inflection point in his contract after 2024. Jones was going to sink or swim this year. He didn't want Saquon back because of the price of a RB, but I also don't think he wanted Saquon to bail out Jones. "We didn't pay him $40M to hand off". It's a Mythbusters scenario: Even a negative answer is an answer. It's now clear that Jones is nothing more than a backup QB in this league and it's time to move on. The injuries and inconsistent play have doomed him. And if Lock was any good..and if he had a good showing in 4Q last Sunday in garbage time, I'd bet Jones would have been benched for MNF.
