I was at the game on Monday night

First, the Steeler fans are excellent. Had great conversations with a few people. They love their team and they do their part with lots of volume and the energy was off the charts.

The stadium was really nice and the setting and view of downtown Pittsburgh was really cool.

About the game, from my observations, the Chris Hubbard did a decent job in pass pro. Considering out secondary was down 3-4 CB's they didn't play to poorly. Russel Wilson made some incredible throws. Daniel Jones seemed to do a better job of making the right read until the last pass. Untimely penalties and a few dropped passes are just too much to overcome for Jones. Tyrone Tracy is a tough and talented kid. Boy does he run hard.

We all need to keep something in mind as this season progresses: There were times where we had 6 or 7 rookies on the field for the offense and the defense combined that were starting: Nabers, Johnson, Tracy, Nubin, Phillips Muasau and Chatman. That is unreal.

It was disappointing to lose another game especially on primetime, but I will tell you the Steeler fans thought we played very hard and were shitting their pants at the end of the game.

I went to Heinz field in 2008

the season after we won the SB against undefeated Pats. Definitely echo the sentiment of Steelers fans being good folks. They kept thanking us for beating the Patriots. We won that game, but they actually went on to win the SB that season. Stadium is at a great location in the city on the river, right by downtown, etc.

Was a much better time to be a Giants fan. Kudos to you for going and finding silver linings on this Giants season. The team is tough to get excited about it.

gave them a run, Most including me thought the giants would be blown out of the building. Just tired of watching them find ways to lose.
I was there too.

Think my son and I might have won the award for longest haul for an NYG fan...came from just down the road in Mississippi. Not my first trip to Pittsburgh/downtown, as I have family there. But there are lots of good spots in the area around the stadium for pre-gaming (and we were there on Sunday at a great barcade with all the games on, which was cool). Also hopped over to the NFLHOF in Canton OH Monday morning...it's a must-do if you get the chance.

Agree with all your comments about the hospitality/easy-going nature of Steeler fans. Generally speaking, they seemed to focus on cheering for their team to the exclusion of booing the opponent. Maybe that's b/c we aren't in the AFC North, plus the 'sister organization' thing b/w NYG and PIT.

I'm used to games in the Superdome, which gets loud and raucous. Music between snaps, dancing in the aisles...never stops. This was a differen't kind of 'loud,' meaning the yelling in unison on third downs and during the opposing QB's snap count. It was consistent, organized and it was effective, so kudos to them.

Sucked that the Papa/Banks feed on Sirius was a full play behind, b/c I wanted to follow along. Couldn't exactly pause the action on the field like I do at home with Sunday Ticket, though. For instance, I couldn't get any explanation why Banks was on the sideline (tried to post on BBI game thread but didn't get answered), had no clue about the missed roughing the punter call and the 2 point conversion made no sense (although, candidly, it still doesn't).

Fun trip, game result notwithstanding.
Steelers are my #2 team

Cause of the historical tie between ownership and all the Badgers on the team.
Hubbard did a terrible job at pass pro

Like really bad. The stadium did look great though. I would love to go to Pitt and check out a baseball and football game

My wife is from a Pittsburgh suburb so I am very familiar with the Steelers and Steelers fans, in fact we were just back in western PA visiting her family a couple weeks ago.

Steelers fans are an interesting breed. I have always been impressed with the ubiquity of Steelers fandom there - we were leaving on a Sunday morning and her 85 year old grandma was going over to her friends house later that day to watch the Steelers game with a bunch of other old ladies. Not that Giants fans aren't everywhere in the NYC area, but I don't know, I guess when you factor in some Jets fans, etc., I always was just impressed with the Steelers presence there.

That said, maybe it's just her family but I also find Steelers fans to be a bit whiny. The way some of them talk about Tomlin, you'd think they'd have been in the basement for years, not winning and relevant literally every single season. My in-laws all want him fired. I tried telling them he'd get hired elsewhere in seconds.

A buddy of mine also asked before the game what I thought about how the Giants would do. I said"same as always, we'll find a way to lose in a game we had every opportunity to win". In this case turned out to be costly penalties, strip sack near the end, and a pick after a ridiculous looking 2 point conversion attempt where our coach wanted to be cute and instead outsmarted himself.

I believe graded out as the worst tackle in the NFL this week lmao.
Not sure I agree re: Hubbard

thought he stabilized later in the game but that was not a good showing. He looked every bit the part of a guy who just got signed off a practice squad and hadn't played LT in years.

Other than that, agree re: Pitt. Nice place to watch a game.

Because the Giants can’t make a decision about what to do with Neal, the whole line is a mess again. The only competent backup LT behind Thomas is playing RT and (apparently) they had no competent backup RT either. If they had made some decision about Neal (any damn decision: IR him, play him, make him inactive, cut him or trade him), they could have had Hubbard in here weeks ago as the backup RT where he has played fairly recently and at least borderline competently.
Echo the sentiments about Steeler fans

Very knowledgeable and also very respectful.

The baseball version of them is St. Louis Cardinals fans. Went to a game in 2007 wearing my Mets gear, everyone was super nice and we had some good, intelligent conversations about baseball. The exact opposite of going to a game in philadelphia...
Steelers fans complaining about Tomlin is similar to me complaining

about Aaron Boone. Great for the regular season record but where's my World Series/Super Bowl. The difference, I feel, is that Boone has a lot of talent he mismanages and Tomlin makes sweet lemonade out of lemons.

He didn't stabilize. The Steelers' defenders got tired from running past him.

I was there, too.

I actually thought they were fucking obnoxious garbage. If they lost, it was looking like they were tip-toeing into Eagle fan territory. They were OK before and after the game, but during, they have some weird mountain hillbilly cult vibe about them.

I love in eastern Ohio. I'm all around Browns and Steelers fans. When I went to the Browns-Giants game back in September, most were still fans but despised Watson. With Steelers fans, it's kind of funny. Many of them credit Cowher and Ben for all of Tomlin's success. Tomlin trotted Ben and his washed corpse out there his last few seasons and won in spite of Ben being a shadow of himself. He went to the playoffs with Kenny Pickett and then again with Mason Rudolph. He's a phenomenal coach. They're spoiled and that's why many of them hold their standards so high. They're like the Pats fans from 2001 to 2020.
