if it makes you feel better if they didnt trade PCA the likeliest alternative was mark vientos. also in the offseason zack scott said they considered a much bigger trade (which i think would have included Alvarez).
As hyped as he has been the last few years im not sure id feel comfortable betting that PCA ends up much more than Bader, and that's with him coming back from a serious injury and taking a development leap.

think that was the year they fired chili davis bc he was fighting with zack scott and everyone was slumping below career avg (conforto worst year, mcneil bad year, mccann year 1). pitching wasnt great either but carrasco, jdg, and thor were in theory coming back.
